Design & Construction
Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 12.2m beam and a 3.75m draft. The yacht is built over 5 decks with an internal volume of 1,620 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid 2007. Launched in February 2013 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in July 2013.
Exterior Design
At 72m (236.2ft) and 1,620GT, Axioma sits in a size bracket where layout decisions have a major impact on how a yacht feels to use. Designed by Sterling Scott for Dunya Yachts, her profile combines long horizontal deck lines with a high bow, broad beam of 12.2m (40ft) and a sequence of terraces that step gently aft toward the water.
The most distinctive feature is the dedicated owner's deck, a design choice that was still relatively uncommon when Axioma was delivered in 2013. Rather than placing the owner on the main deck alongside guest accommodation, the yacht gives the principal suite an entire private level with its own outdoor areas, terrace access and commanding views. This arrangement has since become far more common among large custom yachts.
Viewed from the side, Axioma's profile is clean and restrained for a yacht of this volume. The glazing forms a continuous dark band through the superstructure, while the bright turquoise hull has become one of the most recognisable paint schemes in the superyacht fleet. The long foredeck, high freeboard and sweeping sheer line create a balanced profile despite the yacht's five-deck arrangement.
Outdoor living revolves around several distinct zones rather than a single focal point. The main deck aft is centred around an infinity swimming pool that overlooks the stern, while broad staircases descend toward the swim platform. Above, the upper deck provides a large entertaining terrace, and the bridge deck adds a spa pool, bar and lounge beneath retractable shade sails. Forward on the owner's deck, a private terrace creates a secluded outdoor retreat that remains separate from guest areas.
The yacht's size also allows unusually generous circulation space. Wide side decks wrap around every level, making it possible to move easily between exterior areas without interrupting social spaces. The cascading arrangement of decks, terraces and stairways creates strong visual links between levels while preserving privacy.
Interior Design
Alberto Pinto approached Axioma's interior with a much lighter touch than many large yachts of her era. Instead of dark timber and heavily detailed joinery, the design uses pale oak, natural fabrics, leather and high-gloss palisander accents to create a bright, contemporary atmosphere.
The centrepiece is the double-height main saloon. Few yachts feature a space quite like it. A mezzanine opening above connects two levels visually, allowing natural light to filter deep into the yacht and creating a sense of volume more commonly associated with private residences than traditional yacht interiors.
Large windows run throughout the guest areas, drawing daylight into spaces that might otherwise feel enclosed on a yacht of this scale. The result is an interior that feels noticeably more open than many contemporaries from the early 2010s.
Entertainment and wellness receive significant attention throughout the layout. A dedicated cinema occupies the lower deck, where the absence of natural light creates ideal viewing conditions. A gym, massage room and steam room form a dedicated wellness area, while a guest elevator connects the decks for easy movement throughout the yacht.
The owner's deck functions almost as a private apartment. Alongside the suite itself, the level incorporates a lounge, media room, office and direct access to private outdoor spaces. This arrangement creates a degree of separation from guest areas that was typically found only on much larger yachts when Axioma was launched.
Accommodation
Axioma accommodates up to 12 guests in six staterooms.
The owner's suite occupies the entire upper owner's deck and ranks among the yacht's defining features. Spanning the full beam, the suite includes a private office, lounge space, direct terrace access and a large skylight positioned above the bed. Combined with the elevated position within the yacht, it delivers a level of privacy rarely found aboard vessels in this size range.
A full-beam VIP suite sits on the main deck below and benefits from large windows that provide far stronger sea views than would normally be available from a lower-deck cabin.
The remaining guest accommodation is also located on the main deck, an unusual arrangement that places every guest cabin close to natural light and exterior views. The layout includes three VIP cabins and two additional guest cabins, allowing accommodation for up to 12 guests.
Crew accommodation is arranged for up to 21 crew across 12 cabins. This unusually high crew-to-guest ratio supports the level of service expected aboard a yacht that operates extensively in the charter market.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3516 C DITA) 3,150hp engines running at 1800rpm, motor yacht Axioma is capable of reaching a top speed of 17 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots. With her 172,400 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at an economic speed of 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.
Amenities
The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. A sumptuous cinema suite allows for movie nights at sea and a swim platform provides easy access to the ocean. An elevator makes the yacht fully-accessible, while air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Axioma also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
