Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement composite hull and a GRP superstructure she features a 8.1m beam and a 2.1m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 296 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid 1991. This was the twelfth yacht built on the Custom design. Launched in December 1994 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in February 1995.
Exterior Design
Chanson is a 36.58m (120ft) Christensen tri-deck motor yacht, built in 1995 and refitted in 2020. The profile is classic American, with a full-bodied hull, high bow, and a strong superstructure that prioritises internal volume and deck space over low-slung styling. Wide walkaround side decks run the full length, which keeps movement simple and safe.
The aft deck is enclosed on three sides, so it works in all conditions with heating or air conditioning. It connects directly to the main saloon, so it acts as an extension of the interior rather than a separate space.
Above, the bridge deck adds a second layer of outdoor and indoor use. Aft, there is space for seating and open-air use, while inside the skylounge includes a full wet bar. This deck also houses the captain’s cabin just behind the pilothouse, which keeps command close to the helm.
The sundeck is built for leisure. A large jacuzzi sits as the centrepiece, surrounded by sun loungers and seating, with a bar setup close by. The layout is simple but effective, with clear zones for sitting, sunbathing, and social use.
At the stern, the lower deck leads down to the water with easy access for toys and tenders. The setup supports a large 12.8m (42ft) Boston Whaler Outrage tender and a full range of water equipment, backed up by a floating dock system.
Interior Design
The interior uses light maple joinery and marble detailing, which gives the main deck a brighter feel than many yachts of this era. The entrance foyer features inlaid marble flooring, which sets the tone before opening into the main living space.
The main saloon sits aft, arranged with loose seating and large windows that bring in natural light. Forward, the formal dining area is integrated into the same space rather than fully separated, which keeps the layout open and practical for entertaining.
The skylounge on the upper deck adds a second interior social area. It includes a full wet bar with fridge, ice maker, and wine storage, so it can operate independently from the main deck. Seating is arranged for relaxed use rather than formal gatherings.
Accommodation
Chanson accommodates up to eight guests across four cabins, with crew space for six.
The master suite sits full-beam on the lower deck and includes his-and-hers bathrooms, which is a rare feature in this size and era. The layout gives the owner a clear separation from guest areas.
On the main deck, an on-deck VIP cabin provides step-free access, which suits guests who prefer to avoid stairs. This also adds flexibility for mixed-age groups.
Two further guest cabins sit below, one double and one twin, both with en suite bathrooms.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3412C-DITA) 12-cylinder 1,000hp engines running at 2100rpm, motor yacht Chanson is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. With her 30,283 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 2,986 nautical miles. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
Amenities
A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Chanson also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
