Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7.92m beam and a 2.01m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 298 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the twenty-seventh yacht built on the Westport 130 design.

Exterior Design

Determination III stretches to 39.62m (130ft) and carries the clean, well-balanced profile that made the Westport 130 one of the yard's defining models. Rather than chasing fashion, her lines rely on good proportions, a fine bow and broad deck spaces that still look fresh more than two decades after launch. It's one of the reasons the Westport 130 remains a sought-after choice for owners who value comfort and practicality over short-lived styling trends.

Her semi-displacement hull, drawn by William Garden, gives Determination III a fine forward entry that softens the ride in head seas while still allowing 24-knot performance when conditions allow. That mix of speed, volume and seakeeping became a hallmark of the model and helped establish Westport as one of the world's leading builders of large composite motor yachts.

Full walkaround side decks make moving around the yacht easy and safe, while the Portuguese bridge adds another useful outdoor space forward. Instead of leaving this area empty, Westport built in seating and a raised spa pool, creating a quiet place to enjoy the view away from the busier aft decks.

Aft, wide staircases link the swim platform, cockpit and upper decks, making the yacht feel open and easy to move around. The boat deck is another strong point. Even with the tender carried aft, there's still room for a wet bar, lounge seating and a dining table for ten, something many yachts of this size struggle to achieve.

Interior Design

Determination III has the warm, welcoming feel that has long appealed to Westport owners. Rich cherry joinery runs throughout the interior, balanced by light carpets, neutral furnishings and large windows that fill the living spaces with natural light. While many yachts of her age have been heavily modernised, she has kept the character that helped make the Westport 130 one of the yard's most successful models.

The main saloon is arranged for comfortable everyday living rather than formal display. Deep sofas create a relaxed seating area, while the dining room sits forward as a separate space without feeling disconnected. Large windows on both sides keep the room bright, and the straightforward layout makes it equally suited to family cruising or entertaining.

The upper deck serves as a second lounge, giving owners and guests another place to gather away from the main deck. The general arrangement includes a games table, bar and private office just aft of the bridge, making this deck somewhere to spend the day rather than simply a route to the flybridge. Doors open directly onto the aft deck, so the inside and outside spaces work well together.

Practicality has always been one of the Westport 130's strengths, and Determination III follows that approach throughout. The galley sits between the dining room and owner's suite for efficient service, while separate crew routes help daily operations run smoothly without intruding on guest areas.

Accommodation

Determination III accommodates up to 10 guests in five cabins, with a layout that gives the owner privacy while providing generous space for family and friends.

The owner's suite occupies the forward section of the main deck, making full use of the yacht's beam. Alongside the bedroom are separate his-and-hers bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes and a private study, creating a suite that feels more like a private apartment than a typical master cabin.

Four guest cabins are arranged on the lower deck. Two spacious VIP cabins sit amidships where motion is lowest, giving principal guests some of the most comfortable accommodation on board. A further double cabin and two twin cabins complete a flexible layout that works equally well for family cruising or charter.

Accommodation for up to seven crew is positioned forward with direct access to the galley and service areas. Separating guest and crew accommodation in this way has long been one of the practical strengths of the Westport 130, helping service run efficiently while preserving guest privacy.

Performance & Capabilities

Twin MTU 12V 4000 M90 diesel engines producing 2,735hp each give Determination III a top speed of 24 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 20 knots. At an economical 12 knots, her 37,476-litre fuel capacity provides a range of around 1,200 nautical miles, making her well suited to cruising between popular destinations without frequent refuelling.

Her semi-displacement hull, designed by William Garden, remains one of the reasons the Westport 130 earned such a strong reputation. A fine bow entry helps soften the ride in head seas, while the hull retains the speed and efficiency expected of a modern motor yacht.

Leisure & Entertainment

Determination III offers several distinct places to entertain, allowing guests to spread out across the yacht rather than gathering in a single lounge. The shaded aft deck on the main deck is arranged for alfresco dining, while the upper deck provides a quieter setting for drinks or evening conversation overlooking the stern.

The boat deck is one of the model's best features. Even with the tender carried aft, there is still space for a wet bar, comfortable seating and a dining table for up to 10 guests. It is an unusually social deck for a 40m yacht and reflects Westport's focus on making every area work hard.

Inside, the main saloon, skylounge and private office provide three very different living spaces, allowing the yacht to adapt easily to family cruising, extended stays aboard or entertaining larger groups. That flexibility has played a big part in the lasting appeal of the Westport 130, and Determination III remains an excellent example of the model.

Wellness

The Portuguese bridge gives Determination III a quiet outdoor space that many yachts of this size simply don't have. Built into the foredeck is a raised spa pool surrounded by seating and protected by high bulwarks, creating a sheltered place to relax with open views over the bow whether the yacht is at anchor or underway.

Additional sunpads around the spa provide another place to unwind away from the main entertaining areas aft. By spreading outdoor living across several decks, the Westport 130 avoids concentrating everyone in one space and gives guests plenty of choice throughout the day.
