Design & Construction
Designed around a full displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 27'3" beam and a 19'4" draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 116 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in late 2011 with the keel laid under the project name 'Escapade'. This was the third yacht built in the series. She was delivered to her owners in July 2013.
Exterior Design
Nomad IV makes an immediate impression with her vivid red carbon hull and sweeping silver-grey sails. The bow is straight and vertical, finished with a long carbon bowsprit that projects well forward for setting large headsails. Her wide beam and flush deck hatches give her a purposeful stance, while the low, streamlined coachroof is wrapped in dark glazing that contrasts against the bright hull colour.
Twin helm stations sit aft, each positioned for clear sightlines down the deck and across the sails. Around them, the cockpit offers long benches and daybeds, serving both as a working hub and a social space. Winches and sail controls are all laid out for efficiency, making it possible to handle the yacht with a small crew even in demanding conditions.
Her retractable keel adjusts from 3.5m (11.5ft) in harbour to 5.9m (19.4ft) at sea, and ballast tanks can be shifted to windward to keep the yacht balanced under sail.
Forward of the coachroof, the deck carries large sail lockers and twin furlers, with provision for a code zero. A tender can be stowed on the foredeck and launched using the halyard, in addition to the smaller garage at the stern. At the transom, a fold-down platform provides direct access to the water or extra storage as needed. Every feature reflects her race-bred approach to performance sailing, with carbon construction running through mast, boom, rigging, and deck gear.
Interior Design
Inside, the yacht follows the same performance-led philosophy. The structure and bulkheads are carbon fibre throughout, much of it painted but unmistakably lightweight and purposeful. Despite that, the interior is not stripped bare. The spaces feel broad and open, with a wide beam that creates a surprisingly comfortable environment for a high-performance yacht.
Amidships is a dining area with a full navigation station set opposite. Here the carbon fibre is left partly visible, a reminder of the yacht’s construction. Forward of this is the keel mechanism, housed neatly in the saloon floor, a reminder that functionality is central to the design.
The galley and crew mess are positioned aft, close to the deck access for quick movement between working areas. Refrigeration and storage are arranged around the space, with easy reach to the cockpit above. Laundry equipment and machinery spaces, including the generator and watermakers, are tucked in behind, alongside a Yanmar diesel engine that provides auxiliary power for harbour manoeuvres.
Accommodation
Nomad IV features a rare five-cabin layout for a yacht of her size, offering flexible arrangements for both guests and crew.
Guest accommodation is located forward and amidships, separated from the working areas aft. Each guest cabin is en suite, with layouts ranging from doubles to bunks and flexible twin setups. One forward cabin includes a double berth on one side and two singles opposite, fitted with lee cloths so the berths can be used safely under sail. Another suite includes a carbon fibre bath, a reminder of the uncompromising build quality. All en suites are compact but practical, ranging from larger shower rooms to wet-room designs.
The owner’s cabin is notably spacious, with generous headroom, a wide berth, and a full en suite. Storage is provided with hanging lockers and built-in cabinetry. Throughout, the carbon construction remains visible in details, tying the interior aesthetic back to the yacht’s lightweight build.
Aft, two dedicated crew cabins provide accommodation for up to four crew members. These cabins are larger than expected thanks to the yacht’s wide beam, each with its own en suite. Their position close to the galley and cockpit access means the crew can operate efficiently even during demanding passages.
In total, Nomad IV can accommodate 10 guests across five en suite cabins, with additional space for 4 crew.
