37 Crew

Dutch builder Oceanco proudly delivered the world's 24th longest yacht, Koru, in April 2023. One years later, Kismet set sail as the world's 30th longest yacht. We should remember, though, that Koru has a boost because her bowsprit is almost 15% of her length.

Koru accommodates 18 passengers with a crew of 40, while Kismet carries 16 passengers with 37 crew members. So Koru can sleep two more guests than Kismet, but they have a similar number of crew. Guests on Kismet can enjoy the full VIP experience and arrive in style using the helipad located forward of the upper deck.

Gross tonnage (GT) has nothing to do with weight, instead it is a measurement that includes all the interior spaces of a yacht, from the main living areas to storage rooms. Analysing the GT of Koru and Kismet aptly showcases why it is a superior measure of yacht size compared to overall length, as despite their similar length, Koru has nearly 30% less usable space on board. The difference is more than 70 shipping containers of volume. This is why YachtBuyer has introduced the YB100 as a better way of ranking the worlds biggest yachts. By her GT, Koru is ranked 77th in the YB100, indicating a decline of 49 positions from her placement in the length-based Top 100. In addition, Kismet, holding the 54th rank in the YB100, descends by 22 positions from her place in the Top 100.

Koru's range, driven by wind power, defies comparison with motor yachts. Kismet's range of 6,000 nm means it can voyage from the Seychelles, to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea with ease. Cruising at 12 knots means that she would arrive at Port Moresby in around two weeks and five days.
