Due for launch and delivery in 2026, the 40m Custom Line Saetta 128 already has two sister ships sold. During an exclusive press conference, the yard described how the model scales up the Saetta identity while maintaining its emphasis on speed, clean geometry, and water awareness.
How The Saetta 128 Expands The Planing Series
The Saetta 128 is the result of close collaboration between the Product Strategy Department led by Piero Ferrari, the Ferretti Group Engineering Department, exterior stylist SY Design, and ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel for the interiors, supported by Custom Line Atelier. The model sits under 300GT, spans a 7.69-meter beam, and takes the Custom Line Saetta line into tri-deck territory for the first time, delivering a hull and superstructure shaped around planing performance and streamlined proportions.
At the briefing, Ferretti Group’s chief commercial officer, Giordano Pellacani, described the Saetta 128 as an expansion of a highly successful range aimed at meeting rising expectations for comfort, privacy, and spatial flexibility in the planing sector.
A Focus On Motion, Geometry And Lightness
Inside, ACPV ARCHITECTS developed the scheme around the idea of detachment from the water. At the press conference, the design team explained that on a planing yacht, the relationship with the sea is different from displacement models; there is a sensation of rising above the surface, which they wanted to translate into the interiors. This led to a consistent architectural language built on lightness, clean geometry, and suspended elements. Most furnishings appear to float off the floor, and window frames and ceiling cut-outs track the same directional flow as the exterior lines.
Two interior palettes are offered, both pursuing the same strategy but with distinct atmospheres:
- The Perfect Mood uses darker tones and richer textures, including mocha lacquer, dark oak, walnut and maple parquet, white marble, and tactile interwoven fabrics and leathers.
- The Classic Mood is more neutral and modern, with white Corian, oak, linear wallpapers, and smoother surfaces that create a cleaner, more technological aesthetic.
During the presentation, ACPV noted that the aim was to create contrast without clutter, giving the superyacht a calm backdrop while keeping key design details expressive. The owner’s suite was highlighted as a clear example; the bed sits centered and raised, detached from the room’s edges to heighten the sense of forward motion, with the desk designed in the same suspended style.
We were hugely motivated by the challenge of creating a new tri-deck model, but one with sporty, dynamic lines, because Custom Line Saetta 128’ has a planing hull, an unprecedented choice for a yacht this size. "
Founders
SY Design
SY Design approached the exterior with a focus on motion, energy, and profile continuity. A raked stern sets the tone, supported by screen-printed glazing and a central mast that founders Matteo Sassone and Veronica Yien said drew inspiration from a shark fin.
Elevated Open Air Areas Across All Decks
Across the exterior decks, the Saetta 128 focuses strongly on liveability and the connection between indoor and outdoor areas.
One of the motor yacht's signature elements is the upper deck, which features a sky lounge and a second enclosed saloon of about 20 square meters. These spaces sit at wheelhouse level and open onto a 40-square-meter aft terrace with shaded and open sections. The sliding glass connection allows air and light to move between the spaces, maintaining the sense of height and horizon.
Forward, the 25-square-meter bow lounge features a U-shaped sofa with integrated storage, a broad sunbathing zone, and an optional whirlpool tub.
The 30-square-meter sundeck is arranged for private relaxation with customisable furniture and long views over the water. On the main deck aft, a 33-square-meter cockpit centers around a wide structural sofa built into the transom. The stern includes a multipurpose lower-deck space that can hold two water toys, such as a Williams DieselJet 565 and a Jet Ski, and links with an extended swim platform.
Performance Data For The New Saetta Flagship
Power comes from twin 2,638 horsepower MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines, giving the Saetta 128 a projected top speed of 22 knots and a 19 knot cruising speed. At an economy pace of 11 knots, the yacht is expected to cover around 1,000 nautical miles. This performance sits at the core of the model’s planing brief, balancing speed with range for owners who want to travel efficiently between cruising grounds.
