Ingot is one of two hulls in build in Wisconsin, with the second Burger 180' featuring interiors by Patrick Knowles.
Having previously partnered with Burger on at least a dozen builds, including the classic 47m Ingot and the Slide Hull-equipped Burger 50 Cruiser, Vripack’s design team approached this flagship project with a deep-rooted sense of the Burger ethos. “We relied on our intrinsic understanding of the true Burger owner and built the dream interior up from there,” says Bart Bouwhuis, Vripack’s co-creative director.
Design That Works Day and Night
Throughout, floors and ceilings onboard the superyacht are finished in American walnut, creating a consistent, calming aesthetic. Textured fabrics from Dedar, high-gloss lacquered surfaces, and rich stonework - Calacatta Gold and Dark Emperador marble - layer in additional tones and textures, particularly in the guest en suite bathrooms. Organic shades of brown, beige, cream and taupe unify the look while offering a timeless elegance.

The open-plan main saloon sets the tone. Large picture windows run nearly floor-to-ceiling, flooding the space with daylight and enhancing the visual connection with the surrounding seascape. A Poliform Westside coffee table anchors the central seating area, and loose furniture from Poltrona Frau, including Archibald armchairs and desk chairs, softens the formality with tactile comfort.
But Vripack has not let visual appeal come at the cost of practicality for the yacht. “Floor-to-ceiling windows are an important design element, but it’s essential to incorporate them in a way that doesn’t sacrifice storage,” explains Bouwhuis. Purpose-built side cabinets have been integrated into the saloon and dining spaces to accommodate glassware, serviceware, and other essentials without compromising sightlines or openness.
This balance of aesthetic and function carries into one of the most carefully considered aspects of the yacht’s design: lighting. Recognizing that guests spend much of their time on board in the evening, Vripack paid close attention to creating a layered nighttime ambiance.
A combination of sconces, mini spots, under-furniture lighting, and pendant lamps delivers subtle, atmospheric glows that shift with the mood - from day into night. “It’s not about the level of light intensity,” says Bouwhuis, “but how to gradually introduce a warm ambience.”
A Private Retreat for the Owner
Positioned forward on the main deck, the full-beam owner’s suite onboard the motor yacht is designed as a true retreat. The palette lightens here to encourage rest and relaxation, with soft tones offset by dark American walnut joinery. Expansive windows bring in the view, while bespoke artwork and handpicked objets d’art add a personal touch. Adjacent to the stateroom is a private study, providing a discreet workspace for those mixing business with leisure.
Accommodation for guests includes four additional staterooms on the lower deck, with the flexibility to convert them into two larger family suites. Throughout, comfort and practicality are prioritized with thoughtful detailing and cohesive design language.
Built for Long-Range Cruising
While Vripack’s work focuses on the interior, the Burger 180’ as a whole reflects a build geared toward serious cruising and owner use. Constructed with an aluminum hull and superstructure, the yacht will span four decks, with a gross tonnage of 720GT and a 23-meter-long sundeck equipped with a large pool and sit-up bar. A full elevator links all levels.
Technical highlights include stowage for an 11-meter tender launched via a hydraulic “stinger” system, and a touch-and-go helipad on the foredeck. The yacht’s crew quarters accommodate up to 13 and are equipped for extended time at sea, with a full walk-in pantry, refrigerator, and freezer adjacent to the large galley.
A Contemporary Classic in the Making
Scheduled for launch in 2025, the Burger 180’ will surpass the yard’s previous flagship, Ingot, by more than eight meters. As the largest yacht ever built by the Wisconsin shipyard, the project represents both a milestone and a natural evolution - one guided by longstanding relationships and shared sensibilities.
For Vripack, the project underscores its philosophy that successful yacht interiors go beyond style. “A typical Burger owner seeks a custom-built vessel that is both practical and comfortable, tailored to their specific desires,” says Bouwhuis. “For us, the real measure of success is when everything - from the initial look and feel to the lighting, storage, and craftsmanship - brings lasting value the moment they step on board.”
