The Sirena 118 and Sanlorenzo SD118 are almost exactly the same size and can both do around 19 knots, but that’s pretty much where the similarities end.
The Sirena is the new one here, a 36m (118ft) flagship with a Germán Frers hull and Cor D. Rover interior, while the 35.75m (117ft) SD118 has been around since 2021. There’s only 25cm between them and not much in the tonnage either, with the Sirena at 279GT and Sanlorenzo at 290GT.

Both can be quoted at 19 knots, but Sanlorenzo publishes far more useful supporting data. Its technical sheets give fuel consumption at full power, while delivered yacht Andiamo quotes around 140 litres per hour in charter service. Sirena publishes no consumption figure and its own speed claims vary: the model record, yard sheet and first delivered boat all give slightly different cruise and maximum figures.
The SD118 carries 32,000 litres and is quoted at 2,500nm at 11 knots, with around 3,000nm appearing elsewhere in Sanlorenzo material and on delivered boats. Sirena carries 20,000 litres and publishes 1,200nm at 12 knots with the larger engines. Its own change-order documentation also warns that extra weight can reduce speed and range, which matters on a yacht where options such as the loft, jacuzzi and additional terraces all add weight.

Published volume is close enough that the more interesting question is where it goes. Sirena keeps a fairly conventional main-deck arrangement but puts unusual emphasis on noise control, with floating floors, box-in-box furniture and sound-insulated bulkheads all called out in the specification. Quiet is part of the construction brief here, not simply an interior-design effect.
Sanlorenzo does something far more obvious with its space. The upper deck only has a side deck to port, with the starboard walkway swallowed by the saloon to make the room wider, and the bulwark can fold down beside it to form a terrace. There’s also five years of owner input behind this platform now. Zuccon, Patricia Urquiola and owners’ own designers have all had a go at the interiors, so we already know the SD118 can take quite a bit of fiddling without upsetting the basic layout.
If you actually need six separate guest cabins, the Sirena makes life easy. The owner is forward on the main deck and there are another five ensuite cabins below. Then there’s the loft option, with a private spiral staircase dropping from the owner’s suite into a second lounge at water level. On a yacht below 300GT, that’s a pretty unusual amount of real estate to hand over to one suite.
The SD118 has five cabins as standard, although Andiamo and Rise Above both get 12 people aboard with Pullmans in the forward guest rooms. The owner still gets a nice trick of their own: a hatch hidden beneath the staircase leads straight from the suite onto the bow lounge, so there’s no need to wander through the guest areas first thing in the morning. Both can sleep 12, then, but Sirena gives those 12 people more proper bedrooms.
Whether it will be the Owner or skipper taking control, helm positions should ensure excellent visibility, supportive seating and a design that delivers clear instrumentation.
Sirena sticks with side decks on both sides, and there’s a useful pantograph door straight into the galley too. The interesting bit is forward. On paper this is closely tied to the owner’s suite, but hull one put a jacuzzi between the sunpads. Suddenly that supposedly semi-private owner’s terrace has become one of the more tempting guest spots on the boat.
The Sanlorenzo bow was always meant to be shared. It’s a big two-level lounge, and the owner can slip into it through that hidden hatch from the suite. The price you pay is upstairs, where there’s only one continuous side deck. I don’t think that’s necessarily a problem, but you’d notice it immediately coming from the Sirena: one gives you the full walkaround, the other has pinched that strip of deck to make the saloon bigger.
Sirena keeps the two upper levels fairly separate. The bridge deck has the proper dining area, bar and wheelhouse, while the sundeck is more laid back, with sofas, another table, wet bar, barbecue and provision for a jacuzzi. Hull one shifted the spa down to the foredeck instead, so even the first boat shows how much those drawings can move around.
Sanlorenzo has the advantage of five years’ worth of owners playing with the same space. Andiamo has a rectangular pool and full-service bar up here; K2 went for a bar, Teppanyaki and lounge areas.
This is where the Sanlorenzo has a proper number to throw around. Drop the side terraces and the stern becomes roughly 19sqm of beach club, with storage for dive gear and a garage behind it that takes a tender up to 5.2m and 1,200kg. Underway the tender lives there; at anchor the whole lot opens up into a very substantial bit of waterfront.
