Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 23.5m beam and a 5m draft. The yacht is built over 5 decks with an internal volume of 12,234 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

Construction started in mid 1998 with the keel laid under the project name 'Mipos'. Launched in April 1999 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in September 1999.

Exterior Design

Al Salamah carries herself with the quiet authority of a state vessel rather than a conventional superyacht. At 139m (456ft), her scale is immense, yet the design avoids excess or theatrical styling. Long horizontal decks, soft curves and carefully tiered levels create a calm, balanced profile that feels dignified on the water.

The yacht’s heavily enclosed superstructure reflects a strong focus on privacy and protection from the elements, important for long stays onboard and large family use. Wide shaded decks wrap around the yacht, while deep overhangs provide sheltered outdoor spaces suited to both private relaxation and formal hospitality.

The aft arrangement rises toward a full helicopter deck positioned above a sequence of broad exterior terraces. Below, a circular spa pool sits within the stern leisure area, surrounded by teak decks and protected lounge spaces. Toward the bow, the profile remains notably clean and uncluttered, reinforcing the yacht’s composed appearance despite her enormous volume.

From a distance, the yacht’s symmetry and restrained detailing stand out. Dark glazing bands soften the scale of the white superstructure, while the upper mast and communication arrays are integrated into the design with unusual discipline for a yacht of this size.

Every aspect of Al Salamah's performance has been meticulously crafted to deliver an unrivaled luxury yachting experience.

Interior Design

Al Salamah was designed as a fully self-contained private residence at sea, capable of supporting large family gatherings, official hospitality and extended voyages with complete independence.

The onboard arrangement reflects values of discretion, hospitality and service. Multiple reception areas, private lounges and formal entertaining spaces allow guests to gather comfortably while preserving separation between family, visitors and operational areas. The yacht’s vast enclosed volume also creates a quieter, more private atmosphere than many open-deck modern yachts.

Five separate galleys support the scale of onboard dining and hospitality, whether for intimate family meals or large formal occasions. Dedicated facilities including a secretary’s office, hair salon and artist dressing room further support the yacht’s role as a private retreat capable of hosting events and distinguished guests.

One of Al Salamah’s most unusual features is the inclusion of three separate hospitals serving the owner, guests and crew independently.

Throughout the yacht, elevators connect the decks to improve accessibility, while a private car garage and extensive service infrastructure underline the extraordinary scale of the original brief.

Accommodation

Al Salamah accommodates up to 40 guests across 20 suites arranged throughout the yacht’s expansive interior decks.

The accommodation includes two owner’s suites, 11 VIP cabins and eight twin guest cabins, allowing large family groups and official guests to remain onboard with a strong degree of privacy and personal space. The arrangement supports multigenerational living and extended periods at sea while maintaining separation between guest and service areas.

Supporting this operation is one of the largest crew and staff arrangements ever installed aboard a private yacht. Twenty-three staff cabins accommodate up to 59 members of private staff and security personnel, alongside accommodation for as many as 96 crew.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (20V 1163 TB73) 20-cylinder 8,837hp engines running at 1250rpm, motor yacht Al Salamah is capable of reaching a top speed of 21 knots, and comfortably cruises at 17 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.

Amenities

A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. In addition, a swim platform is on hand for guests looking to cool off in the sea. The yacht can house plenty of nautical toys and accessories, with a well-appointed tender garage for storing her impressive locker. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort and an elevator makes the yacht fully-accessible.
