Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7.98m beam and a 2.21m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 333 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in late 2012. This was the eleventh yacht built on the Westport W130 design. Launched in March 2014 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2014.
Exterior Design
Far Niente is a 40m (130ft) Westport motor yacht, and her exterior follows the builder’s proven tri-deck layout, so the profile is clean, balanced and focused on usable space across every level. The long foredeck carries a Portuguese bridge with built-in seating and loose loungers, while also creating a private forward terrace with clear views and shelter from wind.
The main deck aft is set up for entertaining, with a covered dining area for up to 10 guests, a full-service wet bar, integrated seating and a large screen, so the space works equally well for meals or evening gatherings. Steps lead down to the swim platform, which gives direct access to the water and to the yacht’s tenders and toys.
Above, the skylounge aft connects through sliding glass doors to the boat deck, where tenders and toys are stored, along with a service bar and BBQ. This deck also doubles as an open-air social space once toys are launched, so it shifts easily between storage and guest use.
The sundeck sits at the top and is arranged with a forward jacuzzi for six to eight guests, surrounded by sunpads, while a central shaded dining area and bar create a second outdoor dining zone. Loose furniture aft allows the layout to adapt, so the space can host relaxed lounging or larger gatherings.
Interior Design
Inside, Far Niente follows a classic Westport finish, with raised-panel mahogany joinery paired with white marble surfaces, so the tone is traditional and consistent throughout. Large windows run along the main deck, bringing in natural light and keeping the main salon bright.
The main salon is arranged with sofas, ottomans and occasional chairs, while forward sits a formal dining area for 10 guests, backed by a mahogany buffet with twin wine coolers for service. The layout flows directly into the foyer, with a dayhead forward and the galley to port.
The galley is designed for professional use, with stainless steel appliances, a walk-around island and bar seating, along with strong storage and prep space, so it supports high-volume service on charter.
Up on the upper deck, the skylounge acts as a second salon, with large windows, an electric fireplace, a service bar, a desk and a TV, while also linking directly to the aft deck dining area. Just forward, the pilothouse includes a raised seating area, so guests can sit alongside the helm and take in the view while underway.
Accommodation
Far Niente accommodates up to 10 guests across five cabins, with a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck. The suite includes a king-size bed, a private study to starboard, walk-in wardrobes and a his-and-hers bathroom finished in white marble, with separate facilities and a large shower.
On the lower deck, four guest cabins include two VIP suites with king beds and two twin cabins, all with en suite bathrooms. One of the twin cabins can convert into a king, so the layout adjusts depending on guest groups.
Crew accommodation sits forward and below, with four cabins for seven to eight crew.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 4000 M73L) 12-cylinder 2,735hp engines running at 2050rpm, motor yacht Far Niente is capable of reaching a top speed of 24 knots, and comfortably cruises at 20 knots. With her 36,075 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 2,500 nautical miles at 10 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
Amenities
Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Far Niente also features deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
