More Details

Delivered in 2009, Latitude is an award winning 44.81m motor yacht for sale built by Timmerman Yachts. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Vripack, while Bannenberg & Rowell is responsible for her interior design.

Key Features

  • 45m (147.6ft) explorer yacht
  • Integrated ice belt
  • Northwest Passage capable
  • Dive chamber

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.2m beam and a 2.4m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 494 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in early 2005 with the keel laid under the project name 'Stranger; Sasha'. She was delivered to her owners in June 2009.

Exterior Design

Latitude was built for hard miles and cold water, but she avoids the bulky, industrial look many explorer yachts fall into. Designed by Vripack and delivered by Timmerman Yachts in 2009, the 45m (147.6ft) yacht keeps a clean, balanced profile with long flowing deck lines and a surprisingly elegant stance for a vessel capable of crossing the Northwest Passage.

The bow carries a long, slightly raised sheer line with a fine entry that cuts cleanly through rough water and drifting ice. The hull sides stay uncluttered with tightly grouped portholes low in the steel hull and long bands of glazing through the main deck and bridge deck.

The superstructure steps gently aft across three main deck levels, giving the yacht a low visual centre of gravity despite her expedition credentials. The bridge deck overhangs stretch well beyond the aft decks, creating sheltered outdoor spaces suited to colder climates and long-range cruising.

Latitude’s profile also avoids the towering vertical look common among explorer yachts from the same era. The curved mast structure, rounded radar arch and soft transitions between decks help the yacht retain a calmer, more classic silhouette.

A broad aft deck leads down toward the swim platform while the upper decks provide multiple observation points for wildlife spotting and ice navigation. During her Northwest Passage voyages, the yacht carried a fully equipped Everglades centre-console tender along with jetskis and expedition gear for shore landings and ice exploration.

The yacht’s engineering is far more serious than the styling first suggests. Vripack developed the hull with an ice belt and enhanced reverse steering capability for operation in difficult northern waters. Although not outwardly rugged in appearance, Latitude was purpose-built for extreme long-distance cruising.

Seen among icebergs and polar ice, the yacht feels entirely in place. The soft white profile against the Arctic landscape almost gives her the look of a classic research vessel reworked into a modern superyacht.

Accommodation

Latitude accommodates up to 10 guests across five suites, including an owner’s cabin and four double guest cabins.

Crew accommodation supports up to 10 crew, allowing the yacht to operate efficiently during long-range expeditions far from major ports or support infrastructure.

The layout was designed to support extended periods onboard, including the yacht’s 126-day Northwest Passage voyage with owner, guests and crew continuously aboard.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3412E) 720hp engines, motor yacht Latitude is capable of reaching a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 36,737 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.

Amenities

The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Latitude also features deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
