Azimut|Benetti Group Launches WATCHIT Eye, an AI-Powered Collision Prevention System

Azimut|Benetti Group has introduced WATCHIT Eye, a next-generation collision prevention system powered by artificial intelligence and developed in collaboration with marine-tech company WATCHIT.

WATCHIT Eye was born from a partnership between Azimut|Benetti’s in-house R&D Department and WATCHIT, the company founded by former naval commander and captain Tal Duvdevany. Designed specifically for yachts and smaller vessels, the system employs artificial intelligence to identify and assess real collision risks, from large vessels and tenders to buoys and floating debris.

The system builds on the first generation of WATCHIT technology, evolving it into a multi-layered AI solution that integrates inputs from a suite of onboard sensors and a custom-developed 4D Imaging Radar. By analyzing this data in real time, WATCHIT Eye alerts the captain only when a detected object presents a genuine threat.

How the WATCHIT Eye System Works

Unlike traditional navigation radars on yachts, which focus primarily on distance, WATCHIT Eye centers its approach on alert timing. The AI engine is trained to mimic the decision-making of an experienced captain, functioning as a co-pilot that anticipates potential dangers. This allows for early, context-aware warnings during port maneuvers, open-sea cruising, or in congested waters.

The motor yacht radar technology provides short-range precision and operates effectively in low visibility conditions such as fog, heavy rain, or darkness. Compared with conventional marine radar and optical cameras, the 4D Imaging Radar offers improved detection accuracy and tracking reliability at a competitive cost-performance ratio.

Continuous cloud-based data collection further refines the system’s understanding of risk patterns, allowing it to learn and adapt over time. As a result, WATCHIT Eye supports the captain with actionable information while minimizing false alarms, enhancing both safety and situational awareness.

Onboard Integration and Early Adoption

The system made its public debut aboard the Azimut Fly 82 at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival, followed by its presentation at the Genoa International Boat Show alongside the hybrid-powered Seadeck 7. WATCHIT Eye is now available for installation across the Azimut|Benetti fleet, marking a rollout that aligns with the Group’s broader mission to advance practical, user-focused technology in yachting.

The development has already drawn significant attention within the marine sector. WATCHIT Eye has been shortlisted for the 2025 Boat Builder Awards under the category “Collaborative Solution between a Builder and its Supply Chain Partner,” highlighting its contribution to safer and more intelligent navigation.

WATCHIT’s CEO, Tal Duvdevany, emphasized the system’s real-world value for operators. “WATCHIT brings proactive safety to the water, automating risk detection so captains can focus on what really matters: safe, confident navigation,” he said. “With WATCHIT Eye, we’re setting a new standard in how boats understand their surroundings and respond in real time.”

The Azimut|Benetti Fleet in Focus

The launch of WATCHIT Eye comes as Azimut|Benetti Group continues to advance on multiple fronts of design, technology, and production. With more than 100 yachts now in build or on order, the Group’s shipyards are busier than ever.

Leading the lineup is Benetti’s 85-meter Project Life, a forward-looking collaboration between Espen Øino and Zuretti that introduces sustainable diesel-electric propulsion and HVO fuel compatibility. Alongside it, the B.Now 67M Oasis and the award-winning Oasis 40M reinforce Benetti’s direction toward lifestyle-driven spaces and open connectivity with the sea.

On the Azimut side, the composite-built Grande 44M showcases a four-deck design with reduced emissions, while the Magellano 30M continues the brand’s legacy of long-range efficiency with an artistic, contemporary interior by Vincenzo De Cotiis.
