Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.76m beam and a 3.2m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 986 GT (Gross Tonnes).
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
Adamas V is a 65.25m (214ft) steel-hulled Nicolini superyacht with an aluminium superstructure and teak decks, built in 1987 as Al Menwar for the Emir of Qatar. Her exterior came from Sanzio Nicolini and carries the restrained confidence of an older Italian flagship. The profile is long and remarkably low for a yacht with 986GT of volume, with a near-continuous sheer line, tightly stacked decks and long horizontal window bands that stretch almost the full length of the superstructure. Even today, the shape feels purposeful rather than nostalgic.
The bow has a fine entry and very little visual clutter, while the bridge deck overhangs add shade without making the yacht appear top-heavy. The recent repaint sharpens the lines further, especially against the thin dark boot stripe and polished window detailing. Seen side-on, there is very little interruption in the profile. The result is clean and almost architectural.
Her exterior layout reflects the yacht’s original long-range brief. Wide side decks and protected walkways run the full length of the yacht, while the upper aft deck mixes lounge seating with tender storage and crane handling. The sundeck was redesigned during the 2023 refit and now includes a six-person Jacuzzi, a new wet bar, loose lounge furniture, sunpads and extended awnings for better shade coverage. The bow carries four jet skis with dedicated cradles and a new 1-ton crane added during the refit.
Interior Design
The interior by Claudio Zampetti leans heavily into polished woodwork, symmetry and scale. Large burlwood panels with geometric inlays run throughout the guest areas, particularly in the main saloon and TV lounge, where the cabinetry almost reads like architectural wall detailing. The finish is glossy but not overly dark, helped by cream carpets, pale headliners and soft neutral furnishings that lift the spaces.
The main saloon has the proportions of a much newer yacht. Large lounge arrangements sit around low tables, while long windows draw natural light deep into the room. The adjoining entertainment lounge, updated during the 2023 refit, centres around an 80-inch television with surround sound, integrated into a full-width burlwood feature wall. New lighting and updated AV systems modernise the guest experience without stripping away the yacht’s original identity.
Across the yacht, the 2023 works touched almost every system and guest-facing area. New SONOS entertainment, Samsung televisions, upgraded LAN and fibre optic cabling, Starlink connectivity, CCTV, bridge electronics and revised lighting were all added. The upper deck aft was redesigned with a new wet bar and updated furnishings, while the sundeck gained a more open lounge arrangement around the Jacuzzi.
Despite the upgrades, Adamas V still feels unmistakably like a late-1980s flagship. There is weight to the doors, depth to the joinery and a sense that everything was built to last decades.
Accommodation
Adamas V accommodates 12 guests across six suites, with an additional cabin on the main deck for owner’s staff or assistants. The arrangement is unusual and one of the yacht’s strongest points.
The owner’s suite occupies the forward section of the main deck and covers around 130sqm (1,399sqft). It includes a full-beam bedroom, private saloon, breakfast area, study and a large walk-in dressing room. The suite sits well forward, separated from the main guest traffic areas, so it feels more like a private apartment than a cabin.
Connected to the owner’s area is a 50sqm (538sqft) VIP suite with its own study, dressing room and his-and-hers bathrooms. A linking door between the suites allows the spaces to work either independently or together for family use.
The remaining four guest suites are positioned on the upper deck rather than below deck, which is rare even today. Large windows give them open sea views and direct natural light, while the nearby skylounge and deck access make the whole upper level feel like a dedicated guest floor. Each suite has an en suite bathroom, television and SONOS entertainment system.
Crew accommodation is equally substantial. Adamas V carries up to 15 crew across 11 cabins, including a captain’s cabin on the upper deck.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V956TB82) 4,175hp engines, motor yacht Adamas V is capable of reaching a top speed of 20 knots, and comfortably cruises at 15 knots. With her 200,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,200 nautical miles at 15 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
Amenities
An elevator makes the yacht fully-accessible.
