Delivered in 2021, Aquasition is a 27.04m motor yacht for sale built by American shipyard Ocean Alexander. Her exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Evan K Marshall, while Ocean Alexander is responsible for her naval architecture.

Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 6.29m beam and a 1.25m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 160 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the first yacht built on the 27 Explorer design. She was completed at Ocean Alexander's Kaohsiung yard in Taiwan where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners.

Exterior Design

Aquasition is built on the Ocean Alexander 27E platform, the model that launched the builder's Explorer series and introduced a stronger focus on range, outdoor living and long-distance cruising. Rather than adopting the rugged appearance of a commercial expedition vessel, the 27E combines explorer-yacht practicality with the styling Ocean Alexander owners expect.

The profile is defined by a near-plumb bow, powerful hull sides and a distinctive dark-glazed wheelhouse that creates a striking visor effect across the upper deck. Large expanses of glazing dominate the superstructure, while the gently arched roofline softens what could otherwise be a very angular design. 

One of the most successful elements of the design is the way exterior space has been distributed. The foredeck is unusually large for a yacht of this size, helped by the vertical bow and long deckhouse arrangement. This creates an excellent lounge area with sunpads, seating and plenty of room to relax underway or at anchor.

Aft, Aquasition's explorer heritage becomes more apparent. The 20.9m² (225ft²) aft deck combines with the hydraulic swim platform to form a very large waterside zone. Drop-down side terraces increase the usable beam when at anchor, while the platform can accommodate both a tender and personal watercraft. The arrangement allows toys to be launched efficiently without dominating guest spaces.

The bridge deck has a lovely elevated entertaining area complete with dining space, lounge seating and a jacuzzi positioned aft. The substantial hardtop provides welcome shade, making the deck comfortable throughout the day.

Interior Design

The Ocean Alexander 27E was developed around the idea of creating more volume and openness without moving into a much larger size category, and that thinking is evident throughout Aquasition's interior.

The main salon takes full advantage of the yacht's generous 6.29m (20.7ft) beam. Large windows wrap around the space and bring in excellent natural light, while the open-plan arrangement allows the salon and dining area to flow naturally together. This creates a very welcoming environment for owners and guests spending extended periods aboard.

A formal dining area sits forward within the main deck living space, benefiting from the same panoramic views that define the salon. The connection between the two areas helps the interior feel considerably larger than many yachts of similar length.

The galley occupies a prime position on the main deck rather than being hidden away below. Ocean Alexander deliberately chose this arrangement after feedback from owners who preferred a more social relationship with crew and chefs. A breakfast bar and coffee station reinforce this informal approach while providing a practical gathering point throughout the day.

Above, the skylounge adds a second interior social space and works particularly well when cruising in warmer climates. Positioned close to the flybridge and exterior decks, it creates an easy flow between indoor and outdoor living.

Accommodation

Aquasition accommodates up to eight guests across four cabins, supported by separate quarters for 2 crew.

The owner's suite occupies the full beam amidships, traditionally the most comfortable location aboard. The generous beam of the 27E allows for a particularly spacious layout, with room for extensive storage, a large en suite bathroom and excellent circulation around the cabin. For owners planning longer cruises, it is a very good arrangement that feels more akin to what might be expected aboard a larger yacht.

Forward, the VIP cabin benefits from the yacht's broad bow sections and offers excellent volume for guests. Two additional twin cabins sit between the master suite and VIP, creating a practical layout that works equally well for families, grandchildren or mixed guest groups.
