- Sauna and hammam in beach club
- Large glazed main deck saloon
- Glass-wrapped upper saloon veranda
Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.6m beam and a 2.7m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 476 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the first yacht built on the EXP 43 design. Launched in July 2024 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in September 2024.
Exterior Design
With a profile just shy of 43m (141ft) and a length at waterline of 39.30m (128.9ft), Babbo is a full custom explorer yacht with a steel displacement hull and aluminum superstructure. Her exterior by Francesco Paszkowski mixes architectural rigor with softened contours for a purposeful yet elegant stance. Hydro Tec’s naval architecture targets efficient passagemaking and calm behavior at sea.
Open air living is built into every level. The aft main deck is conceived as a multi level beach area that flows from a large cockpit down a broad, furnished staircase to the swim platform. At water level, a beach club spans the stern and opens directly onto the platform. It is fitted for wellness with a sauna and hammam, and it includes a day head for convenience. Entry to the lazarette is via the cockpit stair when underway or through the large stern hatch when at anchor. The lazarette itself doubles recreational and functional roles with storage for diving gear, bicycles and water toys, plus laundry and technical spaces, and direct access to the spacious engine room.
Tenders and toys are concentrated forward on the upper deck. Two tenders are stowed ahead with a powerful crane for easy launch, while jet skis sit in their own compartment. A separate chase boat supports coastal trips and smooth shore transfers. Expanses of glazing frame the main and upper deck saloons to pull in natural light and keep sightlines to the sea.
A max beam of 8.67m (28.4ft) and a gross tonnage stated at 476 GT translate to generous interior volume across three decks plus a sundeck. The sun deck is arranged for long days at anchor or under way with a shaded dining area, a bar, sunbeds and a panoramic swimming pool. Stability at speed and at rest is enhanced by two pairs of CMC Marine electric stabilizers with large fins.
Construction is unapologetically robust. CdM notes high grade steel with 8mm plating in the hull and a build approach focused on longevity, strength and low noise transmission, with thick insulating layers and rubber mounted machinery foundations. Reported noise and vibration performance is notably low at 38.6 dB(A) in the saloon at anchor and 33.4 dB(A) in main deck cabins.
Babbo hull form is refined to reduce drag and maximize hydrodynamic efficiency for long range cruising on modest power, turning serious capability into relaxed, family friendly exploration.
Interior Design
Francesco Paszkowski Design carries the exterior discipline indoors with a restrained, welcoming style. The palette runs from warm whites to sandy earth tones for a calm, timeless feel. Natural light is a constant theme, especially in the upper deck saloon, which reads like a veranda thanks to its panoramic glazing and indoor dining focus.
A signature motif of vertical wooden strips runs through wall paneling, ceilings and cabinetry to create delicate chiaroscuro and visual rhythm. The wood is a pale, warm oak with fine grain, treated with a matte oil for an authentic touch and paired with creamy woven fabrics and tan or taupe leathers. Floors are ultra matte engineered European oak in wide planks, with low furniture pieces that appear to float. Lighting is quiet and intentional: cove lights behind the slatted features, discreet micro spots in the deckhead and integrated reading lights emerging from panels and headboards. On stairwell walls, the strips give way to lattices with a light Japanese influence.
A Flexform Harper sofa by Antonio Citterio, complete with a saddle hide clad console armrest, anchors the main saloon lounge. Coffee tables combine pale Calacatta tops with matte dark bronze bases for a mineral accent that doesn’t overpower the neutral envelope. On the upper deck, a more angular Maxalto sofa shapes the panoramic skylounge, which is conceived as an indoor dining space. Here a Maxalto Pathos table with a Calacatta marble top is encircled by low Maxalto Febo chairs.
The design language becomes more pared-down and intimate in the owners’ suites on the main deck, where the strip motif forms sculptural headboard backdrops and nightstands appear as cantilevered extensions of the paneling. Throughout, details are obsessively resolved to keep the architecture clean: ventilation grilles are integrated, blinds hide inside ceiling coffers and storage works on silent push latches. Pantries on every deck and dedicated crew staircases underpin quiet, efficient service without disturbing guest areas. The lower deck carries a large, well equipped galley, a generous crew mess and laundry to keep operations smooth in all conditions.
Accommodation
Babbo accommodates up to 12 guests in 6 suites. The main deck forward houses four large double suites that are almost identical in size and outfitting so each family member enjoys the same level of comfort. On the lower deck, two additional twin guest cabins are positioned amidships to complete the six cabin plan.
Crew spaces are designed for a complement of nine. The forward lower deck holds four twin crew cabins for eight crew, plus a spacious crew dinette and direct access to the galley. The captain’s cabin sits on the upper deck adjacent to the wheelhouse for quick access during navigation.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32 Acert) 1,000hp engines, motor yacht Babbo is capable of reaching a top speed of 14 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. With her 60,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.
