The yacht industry's major design awards have already recognised a diverse collection of interiors in 2026. Beyond showcasing exceptional design, these yachts provide inspiration for anyone interested in how materials, layouts, lighting and personal tastes can shape life onboard.
Breakthrough brings intimacy to a 119-metre interior
At 119 metres and more than 7,000GT, the custom Feadship superyacht Breakthrough sits 30th in the YachtBuyer YB100, which ranks the world’s 100 largest yachts by gross tonnage. Creating a sense of intimacy at that scale was therefore a defining challenge for RWD. The result won Best Interior Design – Motor Yachts, 1,000GT and above at the 2026 Boat International Design & Innovation Awards. More than 100 shades of white and off-white fabrics and leathers are paired with travertine marble, rattan, fumed eucalyptus and limed oak, with subtle changes in tone between decks. Curved forms and indirect lighting soften the extensive interior, while spaces including a cinema, library and underwater Nemo lounge reflect the owners' lifestyle. Breakthrough demonstrates how a consistent palette and considered lighting can bring cohesion and intimacy to even the largest yacht interiors.

Parati embraces softer, sculptural design
The 47-metre Cantiere delle Marche superyacht Parati, an RJ155 model, won Best Interior Design – Motor Yachts, 1,000GT and below, 40m and above at the 2026 Boat International Design & Innovation Awards, recognising an interior by Achille Salvagni. Rather than relying on overtly nautical styling, Salvagni uses organic forms, natural materials and individually designed pieces to create a softer, more residential atmosphere. Light koto wood and Rosa Portogallo marble feature within a design characterised by curved forms and carefully considered furniture. For those drawn to understated interiors, Parati shows how distinctive spaces can be created through proportion, texture and bespoke pieces without relying on excessive decoration.

Lalabe puts practical living at the centre
The 35-metre custom Van der Valk superyacht Lalabe won Best Interior Design – Motor Yachts, 24m to 39.9m at the 2026 Boat International Design & Innovation Awards, alongside recognition for her exterior design and naval architecture. Designed by Guido de Groot Design for a multigenerational family planning to spend extended periods onboard, the interior takes inspiration from the relaxed atmosphere of a beachfront home. Oak, stitched suede, earth and terracotta tones introduce warmth, while durable finishes support everyday use. The upper saloon and aft deck can also transition between an enclosed saloon, winter garden and open veranda, demonstrating how flexibility and practicality can be just as influential as aesthetics when creating a personalised yacht interior.

Katana finds luxury through restraint
The 60-metre Perini Navi sailing yacht Katana, the fourth yacht in the builder's 60M series, received Best Interior Design – Sailing Yachts at the 2026 Boat International Design & Innovation Awards for an interior created by Rémi Tessier. Japanese influences underpin a restrained design language focused on proportion, material selection and continuity between spaces. Rather than treating individual rooms as separate statements, the interior uses carefully controlled forms and transitions to create a consistent atmosphere throughout the yacht. Katana offers a different interpretation of luxury, demonstrating how simplicity and precision can establish a strong identity without an abundance of decorative elements.

Orion layers materials with a contemporary edge
Heesen's 50-metre Orion, a 50m Aluminium FDHF model, won the Interior Design Award – Over 40 Metres at the 2026 International Yacht & Aviation Awards, with Cristiano Gatto Design also named Designer of the Year for its work on the project. More than 37 materials feature throughout the interior, including marble, high-gloss woods, woven leather and custom carpets, alongside bespoke furniture developed around the owners' lifestyle. Despite the breadth of finishes, the materials are brought together within a coherent contemporary design. In contrast to the restraint seen aboard Katana, Orion demonstrates how layering different textures and finishes can create individuality while maintaining a unified interior.

No Rush brings Armani's design language to yachting
The owner's suite aboard the 72-metre No Rush, the first yacht from the Admiral Yachts and Giorgio Armani collaboration, received the Master Cabin Award at the 2026 International Yacht & Aviation Awards. Designed by Giorgio Armani and Admiral Centro Stile, the space translates Armani's recognisable design language into a marine environment. Essential forms, controlled geometries and restrained finishes emphasise proportion and material quality rather than overt decoration. The result demonstrates how influences from beyond the yachting world, including fashion, architecture and residential design, can be translated onboard to create a yacht with a strong and highly personal identity.

What the award winners reveal about yacht interiors in 2026
While their approaches differ considerably, the interiors recognised so far in 2026 point towards greater personalisation rather than a single dominant aesthetic. Natural materials and residential influences remain prominent, but Orion demonstrates there is still room for richer palettes, while Katana shows the impact of restraint. Lalabe places flexibility and everyday living at the centre of the design, while Breakthrough demonstrates how careful material and lighting choices can make even an exceptionally large yacht feel intimate. Together, the award winners provide plenty of inspiration for buyers considering how their own tastes and lifestyle could translate into a yacht interior.
