Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 73'10" beam and a 16'9" draft. The yacht is built over 6 decks with an internal volume of 9,022 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. She was delivered to her owners in March 2019.

Exterior Design

Flying Fox presents a commanding, utterly unique presence at 136m (446ft) in length with a wide beam of 22.5m (73.8ft), resulting in remarkable internal volume and generous exterior areas. Her six decks are elegantly stacked with smooth, flowing lines that balance presence with poise. A finely polished hull finish reflects the water’s surface like a mirror.

The hull’s distinctive shape is functional as well as sculptural. Curved bulwarks extend outward to expand deck space and provide unobstructed forward views. Cutaways on the bridge and upper decks allow light to pour into the interior through expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing. To preserve her clean lines, lifeboats are cleverly concealed behind latticework on the bridge deck. When deployed, a 1.2-ton segment of bulwark swings outward, enabling twin cranes to lower the boats.

Flying Fox is equipped with two certified helipads. The aft helipad on the sundeck is 18m (59ft) in diameter and sized for large helicopters, including the Airbus H175. A secondary 14m (45.9ft) pad on the bridge deck forward supports flexible arrival and departure options.

At the aft end of the main deck, a 12m transverse swimming pool is engineered with a retractable baffle to break wave momentum and a height-adjustable floor. A series of terraces and platforms extend from this central space, leading to the full-beam bathing platform and fold-down sea terrace for easy access to the water.

Other outdoor areas include a well-appointed upper aft deck with a wet bar, alfresco dining for ten, and a fireplace positioned at the balustrade. The sundeck transitions from sun lounge by day to dance floor at night, while a raised roof deck provides a quiet viewing spot with uninterrupted panoramas. Exterior materials include untreated and naturally weathering curved timber, and light-filtering awnings that cast shifting shadows across the deck.

Flying Fox offers the kind of spa experience that most resorts can’t match.

Interior Design

A calming palette of golden oak, bamboo, brushed limestone, travertine marble, and cream leather flows through all guest areas. Decorative elements such as rattan, coconut shell inlays, and silk finishes add warmth and subtle visual interest.

The main saloon stretches over two decks and includes a large fireplace, lounge areas with generous sofas, and a television zone. Opposite, a 22-seat dining area is separated by a coral-inspired aquarium, and surrounded by curated greenery. The central staircase, finished with Etruscan-style mosaic tiles, rises between decks beside two 6m (20ft) irrigated trees.

One of the standout interior spaces is the winter garden. Enclosed by floor-to-ceiling glass and topped by three oversized circular skylights, this lounge features soft curves, natural wood detailing, and a small bar - creating an inviting space for relaxed conversation or quiet reading.

The upper deck’s master saloon includes a second fireplace, a sculptural whale vertebra as a centerpiece, and a dining table for ten. Finishes in this area mirror the overall aesthetic, with bamboo, teak, and oak used throughout, complemented by white carpets and bespoke lighting. The bridge is upholstered in grey leather and designed with a warm, residential feel. Guests are welcome to observe from this space, which integrates smoothly with the interior flow of the upper deck.

A full cinema rounds out the guest experience, offering D-Box motion seating and a wide film selection in a private screening room.

Accommodation

Flying Fox accommodates 22 guests in 11 spacious suites, all positioned on the main deck for direct access to natural light and fresh air. Every suite includes a private sea-view terrace and en suite facilities. All the suites are individually named after marine life.

The largest doubles are Clownfish and Lobster at 47m², followed by Turtle at 45.5m². Three cabins – Sea Horse, Starfish, and Octopus – are designed to convert between double and twin arrangements, supporting a variety of group configurations. VIP suites have retractable sliding panels that transform side decks into private outdoor balconies.

The owner’s suite, named Shell, spans 105m² and includes a 48m² en suite with a centrally placed oval bath, dual showers, twin toilets, and lush greenery. The main bedroom includes a king-size bed to port, a sitting room to starboard with an ethanol fireplace, and a breakfast table. Adjacent spaces include a mirrored dressing room lined with silk, a beauty room, a private office (Angelfish), and a personal studio (Knot). A private terrace opens directly from the suite, furnished with a spa pool, sun pads, and lounge seating.

Crew accommodation is designed to a high standard, with space for up to 55 crew members. A second galley and four onboard chefs support the crew and guest operations, with attention given to ensuring a productive and supportive working environment. These crew facilities help maintain the high service standards expected on board.

Performance & Capabilities

Flying Fox is powered by twin MTU 16V 1163 M84 diesel engines, each delivering 6,975 horsepower through 16 cylinders at 1230rpm. This setup gives her a top speed of 20 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 15 knots. With fuel tanks holding up to 682,500 liters, she achieves a transoceanic range of approximately 6,500 nautical miles when cruising at 15 knots.

Onboard systems are engineered for precision and comfort. A bespoke thermal management system uses dedicated hot and cold water tanks to rapidly shift the spa pool’s temperature from steaming to icy in around ten minutes. The 12-meter transverse pool includes a retractable baffle to control water movement underway, and a floor that adjusts in height to suit different activities.

Her tender garage is built to meet regulations for petrol refueling and can house a submarine, expanding the yacht’s exploration capabilities. Stabilizers further enhance guest comfort by reducing roll whether underway or at anchor, rounding out a mechanical package designed for long-range cruising without compromise.

Leisure & Entertainment

Guests have the opportunity to partake in kite surfing, sailing, or powered watersports under the vigilant supervision of the Water Sports Team. The onboard Dive Instructors provide a comprehensive range of PADI courses, along with specialized courses featuring closed-circuit rebreathers for an unparalleled underwater experience. For seasoned deep-sea enthusiasts, the yacht is equipped with a professional-standard IHC deck decompression chamber, ensuring safety during remote diving expeditions.

The owner's insistence on an aft open-air galley has resulted in a culinary masterpiece. A dedicated team of five chefs adeptly caters to diverse diets and cuisines, crafting each dish freshly and in full view. The galley boasts an impressive array of five distinct ovens - tandoor, pizza, barbecue, and two rotisseries - complemented by two teppanyaki grills, creating a haven for culinary creativity. Adjacent to this, the alfresco dining area, accommodating 24 guests, offers a picturesque setting.

The expansive sundeck effortlessly transitions into a dance floor at night, providing a setting for live music, private dining, and the occasional fireworks, offering an enjoyable atmosphere for onboard gatherings.

Wellness

Wellness aboard Flying Fox is designed around a vast 400m² spa located near the beach club. The spa’s centrepiece is a transverse pool with a retractable divider that allows guests to alternate between saltwater and freshwater. Rapid temperature adjustment enables use as a plunge pool following thermal treatments.

The cryosauna, operating at -110°C, is a unique addition to the spa and represents a first for yachts of this scale. It’s supported by a system of three compressors and circuits, offering guests advanced cold therapy treatments.

Other spa facilities include a sauna, hammam, hydrotherapy baths, rain-shower massage room, and both dry and wet massage spaces. The private beauty room in the owner’s suite adds further exclusivity to the wellness offering.

The gym includes professional-grade equipment such as a Smith machine, treadmill, bike, chest press, and Bosu trainers. Guests can choose from personal fitness programs led by a team of former Olympians and ex-military instructors, covering strength, flexibility, endurance, yoga, and mindfulness.

Amenities

For transfer convenience, the yacht features two helipads. The 18m (60ft) helipad at the stern was designed as the primary landing area for the owner's H175 Airbus helicopter with a passenger capacity of 12 guests. A second helipad is on the bow (14.9m/49ft).
