Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 28'10" beam and a 8'2" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 498 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
Mizu is a 53m (173.9ft) Oceanfast with a profile that comes straight from its origins as a converted frigate, so the emphasis sits on structure, strength, and clarity of purpose rather than soft styling. The white hull runs long and low, while the dark grey superstructure stacks upward in sharp, stepped sections, with each deck clearly defined rather than blended into the next. The bow is upright and purposeful, and the bridge sits forward in a faceted wheelhouse with wide glazing that reads more like a control station than a leisure space.
Flat surfaces and hard angles dominate the design, and the central mast rises high above the decks, packed with radar and communications equipment that reinforce the yacht’s working background. From the side, the tiered arrangement becomes clear, with open terraces stepping aft and giving each level its own function. Walkaround decks are wide and protected by high bulwarks, so movement around the yacht remains safe and direct in all conditions.
The aft deck is built as a true working platform, stretching wide across the beam and deep toward the stern. Twin davits sit port and starboard, each rated to 2,267kg (5,000lb), and the space can carry large tenders, vehicles, or be cleared for events. A central staircase leads down to the swim platform, while a watertight access point connects directly to the engine room and control areas. This layout keeps operations practical without interfering with guest use.
Above, the upper decks shift toward guest space. A formal dining area sits under a custom canopy, while adjacent seating wraps around a concealed entertainment setup. The sundeck adds a Jacuzzi and open lounging areas, though the strong lines remain consistent, with the mast still acting as a visual anchor. Forward deck space remains open and functional, with high sides and minimal interruption, which reflects the yacht’s long-range, ocean-going role.
Interior Design
The interior moves away from the industrial feel of the exterior, using rich materials and a layered layout to create a more relaxed setting while keeping a clear sense of structure. The main salon sits aft and is arranged around a central seating area for up to ten guests, with large windows on both sides bringing in steady natural light. A backlit onyx bar forms a focal point, fitted with sink, refrigeration, and ice maker, and the furniture is custom-built to match the owner’s brief.
Forward, the layout becomes more defined, with a dedicated office to port that includes auxiliary navigation controls, while a foyer with hand-chiselled glass stairs links the decks. The formal dining area sits beyond, built around a custom table for ten and finished in ebony macassar and Japanese anagre, with a day head placed nearby for convenience.
The galley is arranged for extended cruising, with a mix of domestic and commercial equipment. Sub-Zero refrigeration, wine storage, multiple cold drawers, and professional ovens sit alongside a walk-in pantry and a double walk-in freezer, which supports long periods at sea without resupply. This section is set up for volume and efficiency rather than show.
The sky lounge adds a second social space with oversized loungers, a 90-inch screen, and a wet bar, while the wheelhouse forward provides a 180-degree view and a layout that reflects the yacht’s operational background.
Accommodation
Accommodation is arranged for up to 10 guests across 5 cabins, with space for up to 10 crew.
The owner’s suite occupies its own level, set apart from the main guest areas, and includes a centerline king bed, large windows, a walk-in wardrobe, and a private bathroom. The position gives clear views and a degree of separation that suits longer stays onboard.
Four guest cabins sit on the lower deck. Two aft cabins, Norfolk and Charleston, are arranged port and starboard, with Charleston configured as a twin, while Newport and Annapolis sit forward with queen berths and en suite bathrooms. The layout is even and practical, with each cabin given similar proportions.
Crew accommodation is positioned forward and built for a full team of 10, with a crew mess, laundry, storage, and four cabins with bunks and en suite facilities.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V4000M90) 3,750hp engines, motor yacht Mizu is capable of reaching a top speed of 28 knots, and comfortably cruises at 20 knots. With her 21,998 gallon fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,500 nautical miles at an economic speed of 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
Amenities
In addition, a swim platform provides easy access to the ocean. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. The sundeck is the social hub of the yacht, with a deck jacuzzi for cooling off and an inviting spread of sunpads.
