Design & Construction

Designed around a catamaran GRP hull and superstructure she features a 8.15m beam and a 1.98m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 132 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

White Lightning features a streamlined and functional exterior design crafted for performance and practicality. The yacht’s side profile resembles a traditional sport fishing boat with raked bows and a waterline length of 71 feet.

The 85-foot footprint includes a beam of nearly 27 feet, providing substantial deck space. The port and starboard side decks are equipped with 31-inch high stainless steel rails, enhancing safety and security as you move toward the bow. Here, the yacht houses deep storage lockers for lines and fenders, a spot-free water filtration system, and an additional shore power connection.

The bow features over 100 meters of anchor chain connected to a hydraulic winch and a 200-pound fjord anchor. There’s also a sealed storage locker suitable for propane and gas for the tender. Moving aft, a 1500-pound davit launches a custom-built Aqua Pro tender with a 50-horsepower Honda outboard.

The aft deck offers a large, versatile space typically found on 50-meter vessels. This area includes a 138-gallon live bait tank, cockpit trays for washdown gear and crab pots, and a rod locker with a built-in fan and heater. The aft deck also features a bait tank with fishing gear drawers, a commercial vacuum bagging machine, and two 24 cubic foot freezers capable of storing over 700 pounds of fish.

The flybridge aft includes built-in seating for six, under which two six-man life rafts are stored. The flybridge also features a fully enclosed pilot house, providing shelter from the elements. The helm station is equipped with reliable Furuno radars and a navigation computer with Nobletech software and charts. The boat can be operated from multiple locations, including the bow, cockpit, and stern, utilizing a handheld unit with a 30-foot cable for full control.

Interior Design

The interiors of White Lightning feature Avanite countertops, known for their low maintenance and durability. The use of Rimu wood throughout the vessel gives it a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The cabinets are crafted from Japanese Belbian textured materials, adding a subtle yet sophisticated touch.

The open galley is designed to meet the needs of any chef. It is equipped with full-size galley appliances, ensuring that meal preparation is efficient and convenient. The galley also boasts expansive countertop spaces, which include two undercounter Sub-Zero refrigeration units. This setup offers ample space for both preparing and storing food, making it ideal for extended voyages.

The helm station is located in a fully enclosed pilot house, providing protection from the elements. The navigation setup includes reliable Furuno radars and redundant systems, such as two radars and a navigation computer with Nobletech software and charts. The helm station also features a custom wheel that closely resembles the America’s Cup helm wheel. The seating at the helm is designed for comfort and functionality, with sheepskin leather seats that add a touch of New Zealand craftsmanship.

The main salon on the main deck is furnished with large, comfortable lounge seating that can accommodate up to 14 guests. The seating area includes two large coffee tables and new chaise lounges. Storage solutions are integrated into the design, providing ample space for spare parts, extra filters, and other necessities. The salon is also equipped with a dayhead for easy access.

An additional feature in the salon is a large bar area with a pop-up 55-inch Sony TV. The dining area, raised for better views, can seat up to 10 people, making it a perfect spot for enjoying meals while taking in the surrounding scenery.
