A fantastic example of SUV design, the FD87 mixes versatile performance with excellent onboard space and practicality.
The FD stands for Fast Displacement, meaning a hull that mixes good range and efficiency with a 20-knot turn of speed. This, added to an impressive and highly customisable five-cabin interior, makes the FD87 a good choice for both local coastal and longer offshore cruising.

About
Accommodation
The SUV design creates a lot of interior volume and a five cabin layout that includes a main-deck Owner’s suite. This elevated cabin is a real superyacht feature, as is the flexibility and customisation offered by Horizon for the guest cabins which can be configured in multiple layouts. Designed for crew-operation, there is also a very generous quarters in the stern, with a small mess and two cabins.
The FD87’s deck salon enjoys huge windows with an open lounge leading to a dining area close to the galley. Full-height glass doors lead to the side decks, opening up the interior even more and creating that inside/outside feel. But the Horizon’s design then delivers another upper lounge, which can be finished, laid out and used in all manner of ways, from private study, lounge, bar or even an Owner’s cabin.
On Deck
Nowhere does the Horizon mix the practical and luxurious quite as well as it does on deck. Designed to be used and enjoyed in equal, there is a toughness to the exterior but also some finesse. The broad main deck aft feels very grand with dining and lounge options, the well-protected foredeck lounge is both safe and social while the upper deck running off the lounge offers privacy and lots of layout options.
Amenities & Tenders
SUV design places practicality high up its list of priorities, so here we have a raised aft deck designed to take a tender and crane for easy, straightforward launching. Alternatively, for those who want to maximise social deck space, the tender can be stowed on the swim platform.
Performance & Capabilities
The Fast Displacement hull mixes slow-speed efficiency, range and stability with some punchy 20-knot performance. Twin shaftdrive propulsion comes with two engine options, the standard 1136hp Caterpillar C18 and 1600hp MTU 10V 2000 M96L, the latter driving the FD87 towards 25knots.
Genuinely usable design speeds run from an efficient 8-10knot displacement rate for longer passages, with a 1600nm range quoted at 10knots, up to those 20-knot planing speeds for shorter blasts.
