Built by Dutch shipyard Feadship, Milky Way features exterior design and naval architecture by De Voogt, with interiors by RWD. Constructed with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the 2,623GT superyacht was developed around an owner's brief prioritising flexible onboard living, highlighted by one of the largest swimming pools ever installed aboard a Feadship.
Sea trials bring Milky Way closer to completion
Construction on Milky Way began in 2023, with the project reaching a major milestone in 2025 when her hull emerged from the NMC hull fabrication facility before continuing construction at Feadship's Royal Van Lent shipyard in Amsterdam. Following her launch earlier this month, the yacht has now entered the final phase of commissioning as engineers assess her propulsion systems, onboard technology and overall performance at sea ahead of delivery.
A distinctive profile shaped around outdoor living
The yacht adopts a restrained architectural approach that relies on proportion and clean geometry rather than decorative styling. An unusually long foredeck shifts much of the guest accommodation and internal volume aft, creating expansive exterior living areas while giving the yacht a distinctive profile centred around a near-vertical bow and uninterrupted horizontal lines. The owner's brief prioritised flexible onboard living and extensive outdoor spaces, resulting in a remarkable 16.7-metre swimming pool spanning the main deck aft. Measuring more than 50 square metres, it is one of the largest pools ever incorporated into a Feadship and reflects the owner's passion for swimming.
Flowing interiors create a relaxed onboard atmosphere
The motor yacht features an interior that complements the disciplined exterior architecture through softer forms and flowing lines. Rather than competing with the yacht's bold exterior, RWD has created a cohesive spatial experience that encourages relaxed, long-term living aboard. Privacy and flexibility sit at the heart of the layout, allowing spaces to transition naturally between entertaining, relaxation and everyday life on board. The generous internal volume of 2,623 gross tonnes provides ample space for entertaining and private retreats, reflecting the owner's request for a yacht capable of supporting a variety of lifestyles.
Engineered for comfortable long-range cruising
Built around a displacement steel hull with an aluminium superstructure, Milky Way has been engineered for efficient long-distance cruising. Constructed to Lloyd's Register standards, the yacht incorporates underway and at-anchor stabilisers to enhance comfort in a range of conditions, alongside a comprehensive selection of onboard amenities including a spa, sauna, swimming platform, tender garage and expansive exterior relaxation areas. The sea trials will provide the final validation of these systems before the boat enters service.
