The new 16m model is the largest of the fully reimagined Beneteau Gran Turismo range, which includes the smaller Gran Turismo 35 and Gran Turismo 40.
A Fresh Era for the Gran Turismo Line
Announced alongside the Beneteau Gran Turismo 35 and Beneteau Gran Turismo 40, the upgraded Gran Turismo 50 marks the evolution of Beneteau’s long-standing Gran Turismo line, which has been a cornerstone of the builder’s motor yacht portfolio. According to Eric LeVine, Motor Yachts Sales Director, “This is an exciting time for Beneteau. Gran Turismo has been a hugely popular range for express cruising, showcasing our technology, performance, and style. But there was a need to modernize the models for our core market.” The Gran Turismo 35 and 40 made their world debuts at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival.
The new range embraces a “Sport-Lux” philosophy that merges performance-driven design with refined onboard comfort. The idea is to create what Beneteau calls “villa living on the water” - spacious, open environments that connect owners and guests directly to their surroundings. Across the new lineup, exterior spaces have grown by 30%, and the layouts have been redesigned to encourage more natural flow between indoor and outdoor zones.
Japanese Design Principles
Led by Pierangelo Andreani with naval architecture by British designer Bill Dixon, the Gran Turismo 50 embodies Japanese design principles of Kanso (simplicity) and Yūgen (gracefulness). The result is a clean, balanced profile that favors proportion over ornamentation. Product Manager Robert Chaffer describes the boat as “a deceptively simple but powerful silhouette,” enhanced by how light interacts with both the exterior and the interior to create a calm, spacious atmosphere.
The new 50 replaces the previous-generation model, produced from 2017 to 2021, which was lauded for its craftsmanship and innovation but has now been discontinued. While the earlier GT50 introduced Beneteau’s Ship Control system and a strong focus on lifestyle comfort, the next-gen model pushes further in both aesthetic and technological refinement.
Smart Deck Design
The Gran Turismo 50’s exterior adopts a sportier, more contemporary profile, with a slightly reversed bow and broad glass surfaces that amplify light inside. A key design change is the addition of folding aft terraces that extend the cockpit, reinforcing the sense of connection with the sea. The main deck offers a large, adaptable seating area aft, a foredeck sunpad, and wide side decks that enhance movement throughout.
Inside the yacht, the cockpit doors open into a bright saloon with panoramic glazing and a fluid connection to the lower deck. The interior favors soft tones and uncluttered lines, underscoring the minimalist aesthetic that runs through the new GT series.
Below deck, the Gran Turismo 50 motor yacht is available with two or three cabins, accommodating up to five guests, with an optional crew berth. The full-beam owner’s suite benefits from large hull windows and ample storage, while guest cabins maintain the light, open feel of the main deck.
Beneath its refined exterior, the Gran Turismo 50 maintains the strong performance heritage of its nameplate. The model is powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS650 engines, giving it a top speed of around 32 knots and ensuring efficient, responsive handling.
Other Notable World Premieres at Boot Düsseldorf 2026
According to YachtBuyer Market Watch, the largest yacht database in the world, several other key debuts will share the spotlight with the Gran Turismo 50 at Boot Düsseldorf 2026, each appealing to different styles of cruising.
The Solaris Power 70 Long Range takes a more traditional approach to long-distance cruising, contrasting the Gran Turismo 50’s sport-cruiser character with its 21.3-meter flybridge design, deep flared bow, and four-cabin layout. Built for extended range and quiet stability, it favors endurance and comfort over the GT50’s agility and open connection to the water.
More compact in scale, the Greenline 42 offers a 13.5-meter platform focused on energy efficiency and ease of use, targeting couples or families who value hybrid propulsion, solar-assisted systems, and practical comfort. By contrast, the Rand Lagune 44 is a performance-driven center-console designed for high-speed day cruising, reaching up to 50 knots. Its minimalist Scandinavian styling and open-air layout stand in clear contrast to the Gran Turismo 50’s enclosed refinement and extended-cruising comfort.
The debut of the new Gran Turismo 50 at this year's Boot Düsseldorf will mark an important milestone for Beneteau as it repositions its express cruiser range for a new era of design and usability. With cleaner lines, larger living areas, and technology-driven refinement, the next-generation GT50 sets a new standard for what Beneteau calls the “ultimate crossover express cruiser.”
