On Deck

The Greenline 40 features a secure and practical exterior layout that’s ideal for families, pets, and anyone looking for safe movement on deck. A full-beam swim platform sits low to the water and is completely enclosed, offering peace of mind underway. The transom includes a side shower and emergency bilge access, while cleats are thoughtfully placed on raised boxes for ease of docking. Side access doors on both port and starboard sides allow for convenient boarding and spring line handling.

Wide, well-protected side decks provide a secure path forward, with grab rails throughout and side windows that open for ventilation. The bow features a spacious sunpad with optional bimini and adjustable backrests, cupholders, and a recessed anchor system with pocket anchor and washdown. The chain drops neatly into a dedicated locker. Up top, the roof is equipped with raised solar panels for airflow and insulation, plus a large sunroof that brings natural ventilation into the main deck. Additional features include a radar, forward-facing camera, searchlight, VHF antenna, and windshield wipers.

Design-wise, the cabin is offset slightly to widen one side deck, improving both space and functionality. From the helm-side door to the secure bow access, this layout makes single-handed docking and movement straightforward. The cockpit connects seamlessly to the saloon through a sliding door and a large hinged aft window, which opens outward to transform the galley counter into a bar-style serving area. Altogether, it’s a compact but clever exterior that encourages relaxed, open-air cruising.

Interior Accommodation

Inside, the Greenline 40 embraces open-plan living with excellent sightlines and natural light. Huge wraparound windows give near 360-degree views, and the integration between cockpit and saloon is enhanced by the wide sliding door and flip-up aft window. The saloon has a convertible dinette with a hi-lo table that can be lowered to create an additional berth. There’s also a pop-up TV, storage beneath the seating, and a central battery and breaker panel neatly housed behind cabinetry.

The galley is positioned aft for easy service to the cockpit, and includes a two-burner induction cooktop, sink, microwave, and a surprisingly large upright fridge-freezer for a 12.2m (40ft) yacht. The counter features a raised edge to prevent items from shifting underway. With high and low voltage controls, shore power adaptability (including a manual dial for 30 to 50 amp draw), and a Victron inverter system converting 60V DC to 110V AC, the boat is extremely energy-efficient and versatile.

Three independent air-conditioning units make up the tropical package, allowing the boat to stay cool even in humid Florida conditions. These can be run off battery power alone, eliminating the need for a generator. When left on a mooring, the boat can operate fridge and AC systems indefinitely using its six solar panels (330W each) and upgraded lithium battery bank, which can be expanded from 2 to 4 units for up to 55kWh of capacity. Multiple owners have successfully used this setup for completely off-grid operation.

Owner's Cabin

Forward lies the owner's suite, fitted with a large island berth that sits somewhere between a queen and king in size. Hull-side windows bring in natural light, and both sides feature hanging lockers and overhead cabinetry for storage. The cabin feels exceptionally stable, with no interior steps and a low center of gravity, contributing to Greenline’s choice not to fit flybridges below 45ft. Opening windows and hatches provide natural ventilation when AC isn’t required.

Guest Cabin

The guest cabin is to port and features twin berths that can slide together to form a double. There's a small seating area, hanging locker, underbed storage, and opening windows with shades. Natural ventilation and thoughtful use of space make it ideal for extended stays or cruising with family. Both cabins share a single head compartment, which functions as an ensuite for the master when cruising as a couple.

Performance

The Greenline 40 is built around a hybrid propulsion system with twin 14kW electric motors and a pair of Volvo Penta D3 diesel engines. On electric, it comfortably cruises at 4.5-5 knots, topping out around 8 knots with virtually silent operation. Each electric motor doubles as a 10kW generator when the diesel engines are running, efficiently recharging the lithium batteries without a standalone genset.

With its hybrid system, the boat offers a practical cruising style ideal for the Intracoastal or the Great Loop. In real-world conditions, it can run for up to 34 hours at low speed on electric alone. When switching to diesel, speeds up to 23 knots are achievable, with an efficient cruise between 17 and 19 knots. The clutch system between electric and diesel is controlled via an electric-hydraulic actuator, designed to be easy to service by standard marine technicians.

The engine compartment is well arranged with straight shafts, dripless seals, and enough space for maintenance. A lazarette aft provides storage for toys, folding tenders, and deck gear, connecting the mechanical layout with real-world usability. The battery systems are divided into a 12V house bank and a 60V lithium hybrid bank, giving redundancy across bow thruster, stern thruster, motor, and house loads. If needed, systems can be paralleled to allow starting under low battery conditions.

In Summary

The Greenline 40 is an uber-efficient, quietly capable cruiser that thrives on thoughtful design and practical execution. With electric-only operation for canal cruising, solar-powered independence for mooring, and responsive diesel performance when needed, it's a yacht that changes how you think about power, sound, and sustainability. Whether you're dreaming of the Great Loop, a string of harbor cruises, or simply skipping the generator for good, the Greenline 40 is built to make it happen.
