On Deck

The Sunseeker 82 Ocean measures just over 25m (82ft), and it looks every bit of it. The scale hits straight away, especially when people stand next to it. This yacht was previously known as the Sunseeker 156 Ocean, named after its gross tonnage rather than its length, which caused a bit of confusion. People expect the badge on the side to match the tape measure, and so Sunseeker has now gone back to length based naming, but the volume has not changed. If anything, calling it an 82 almost undersells just how big it feels.

Boarding brings you straight into the beach club, and it really is massive. The aft platform includes a lift system that can take a tender and potentially a jet ski, sliding it inboard. Beneath that sits a separate storage zone. The transom lowers on struts, and a hinged section folds flat so the whole thing becomes flush when deployed. With the platform extended, you get a proper waterfront terrace. You can also leave the upper section raised and rotate it down so it becomes a backrest, angled out over the water.

Just forward of this is an exterior catering station. It stays hidden until you release it, then opens into a proper outdoor cooking setup rather than an afterthought. Moving forward again, the aft cockpit uses freestanding furniture, so the space stays flexible. Gates extend the seating area back onto the sunpad. When those gates fold away, glass sections rotate through ninety degrees to create a full width glass transom.

The cockpit includes a sink, chopping board, fridge, and a very large storage locker. There is also a dayhead located out here, which makes a lot of sense for life on deck. Side decks lead forward with uninterrupted glazing along the main deck. The amount of glass on this boat is striking. Floor to ceiling windows run almost the full length, keeping sightlines open and pulling light deep inside.

A side opening door next to the galley gives direct deck access. Forward, doors from the main saloon open straight onto the foredeck. This is a proper social area with seating facing each other and space right up to the bow. Even on a boat of this size, it stands out how many genuinely usable exterior zones there are.

Up top, the 82 Ocean runs a true tri deck layout, which is unusual on a yacht of 25 metres (82 ft). Sunseeker will offer a flybridge alternative, but this version delivers that tri deck feel without pushing into a larger length bracket. Aft on the upper deck is another outdoor terrace with a full bar setup including sink, grill, ice maker, fridges, and seating. Radar and antenna arrays sit above, well clear of the living space.

There is a side deck docking station with excellent visibility when coming alongside. Moving forward again reveals yet another bow seating area on the upper level. The sheer number of exterior spaces is remarkable, and none of them feel like filler.

Interior Accommodation

The biggest talking point on this particular 82 Ocean is the main deck layout. On earlier versions, the galley sat forward with a circular dining area ahead of it. On this boat, Sunseeker has flipped the arrangement back around. The dining area now sits aft on the main deck, directly connected to the cockpit, while the galley runs along the side.

The galley is long, practical, and clearly meant to be used. Stainless steel fridge freezers sit alongside full cooking facilities, with extensive worktop space and a serious amount of storage. Floor to ceiling windows run alongside the galley, so you are not tucked away while working. The dining table sits opposite, which makes this a very sociable catering space.

Moving forward, the main saloon becomes a dedicated relaxation area. Seating faces a TV with soundbar, and doors at the bow open directly onto the foredeck. The circulation works well. You can walk from the cockpit, through the dining area, past the galley, through the saloon, and straight outside again. The layout is configurable, and owners can opt for the previous arrangement if they prefer, but this version clearly prioritises flow through the boat.

Materials are pale, muted, and contemporary. Upholstery feels soft and warm. Dark woods contrast with lighter stone style surfaces, a combination that repeats throughout the yacht. The glazing does a lot of the work here. There is light everywhere, and it changes how the interior feels underway or at anchor.

The upper deck adds a second interior living space. Sofas, a TV, a wine cooler, and large skylights turn it into a proper lounge rather than overflow seating. Doors open aft onto the upper deck terrace, keeping the inside and outside linked.

Owner's Cabin

The owner cabin sits aft on the lower deck and uses the full beam. The footprint is immediately obvious, as there is proper space to move around the bed, and the hull windows bring in light and views when at anchor.

The same dark wood and pale material mix continues here, and it works well at this scale. Storage wraps around the cabin with a mix of wardrobes and shelving. A dedicated dressing area includes a proper desk, which suits longer stays or remote working.

The en suite bathroom is very large. Twin sinks sit beneath a backlit mirror, with extensive stone surfaces and a rainfall shower positioned forward.

Guest Accommodation

Forward on the lower deck is a full VIP cabin. It feels very owner like in scale, with generous floor area, large hull windows, and an en suite bathroom that would not look out of place in the master. Storage includes drawers, wardrobes, and built in cabinetry, and AV equipment is neatly integrated.

Midships are two further guest cabins. One is a double, the other a twin. Both benefit from large hull windows, en suite bathrooms, and good storage. The headboard materials add texture and warmth without fuss. All guest en suites are a good size, which explains why Sunseeker places so much emphasis on volume when talking about this boat.

The standard layout is four cabins. There is discussion of an alternative five cabin arrangement, potentially using the forward part of the main deck for an owner suite, offering further flexibility.

Crew Accommodation

Crew accommodation is aft with its own access. There is a twin cabin, a single cabin likely intended for the captain, and proper heads with a separate shower. Laundry facilities sit within this area as well.

The crew spaces are clearly defined and well separated from guest areas, which supports smooth operation whether the yacht runs privately or with charter in mind.

Performance & Engine Room

The engine room houses twin MAN engines rated at 1,650 horsepower each. Top speed is around 25 knots. A comfortable cruise sits in the 15 to 20 knot range, while dropping back to 10 to 12 knots delivers a range of roughly 900 nautical miles.

The engines run on V drives, with power travelling forward before returning aft to the shafts. Access runs around and between the engines, though the space is currently full of boat show equipment. Twin generators are installed, accessed from a lower level beneath the main engine room floor. Battery chargers, shore power reels, hydraulics, switchgear, and exhaust systems are all clearly arranged.

Ventilation fans are substantial, and once the engine room doors close, the drop in noise is immediately noticeable.

Ownership Considerations

Owning a Sunseeker 82 Ocean Enclosed means more than paying for the build. When you buy new, you typically get the manufacturer’s warranty and full dealer support. That includes structural and systems coverage during the initial years, and access to Sunseeker’s global dealer network for service, parts and commissioning. A new build also lets you choose finishes, layout variations and personal touches that affect long-term satisfaction and resale appeal.

Market data shows that the 82 Ocean Enclosed is still a very young model in production with limited pre-owned stock globally. At present there are a handful of new yachts on order or in stock, and only isolated used examples surfacing with recent build years. Where these have appeared, asking prices have stayed close to new levels, with moderate depreciation trends compared with typical vessels in this class. This suggests strong demand and relatively shallow resale supply for a fresh design.

By contrast, the Sunseeker Ocean 156 (the original gross tonnage named version of this hull) has now been discontinued. That means used 156s on the resale market are rare and may hold value as the design ages. However, boats in that original run vary in specification, systems and age, so their service histories should be reviewed carefully. Unlike a new build with factory warranty, used yachts may require immediate upgrades or maintenance once the original warranty ends.

Choosing new over used also shifts risk. A new 82 Ocean Enclosed arrives with fresh systems, documented build records and clean commissioning, while a used 156 may require more time with surveyors and potentially unforeseen work once systems work under load.

Two rivals worth considering in this class are the Princess X80 and the Sirena 78 Enclosed.

In Summary

The Sunseeker 82 Ocean delivers a level of volume that feels closer to a larger class of yacht. The revised main deck layout changes how the boat works day to day, and the tri deck format adds a genuine extra living level without stretching the length. Exterior spaces dominate the experience, supported by calm interiors and accommodation that fully reflects the scale of the platform. This is a yacht that leans into space, light, and flow, and it does so very deliberately.
