Cruisers Yachts History & Heritage

Founded in 1953 on the picturesque shores of Green Bay in Oconto, Wisconsin, Cruisers Yachts has evolved into a legendary presence in the boating industry.

With a rich heritage dating back to the early 20th century, the legacy began with Thompson Bros. Boat Manufacturing Co. in 1904, establishing a family boat-building tradition rooted in craftsmanship and durability.

The transition to the Cruisers legacy occurred in the early 1950s when the second generation of Thompson's ventured into building wood lapstrake outboard cabin cruisers. The inaugural Cruisers, Inc. catalog emerged in 1956, signaling a new era. In 1965, the company embraced fiberglass, a revolutionary shift that mirrored the industry's technological advancements.

In 1971, Cruisers, Inc. joined forces with Mirro Aluminum Company, marking a pivotal moment. The brand's evolution continued, and by 1993, under the ownership of Stock's KC International Inc., the company adopted the name Cruisers Yachts.

The modern era witnessed the introduction of the Cantius series in 2011, with the 48 Cantius leading the way. Subsequent years brought notable additions like the 60 Cantius in 2015, followed by the 60 Fly, 54 Cantius, and 54. The commitment to innovation persisted, unveiling the 46 Cantius in 2018 and incorporating Mercury outboard technology on the 338.

The lineup expanded with the 38 GLS in 2019, the 42 GLS in 2020, the 34 GLS in 2021, and the 50 GLS in 2022. In response to heightened demand, 2021 marked a significant milestone with the acquisition of a purpose-built boat manufacturing plant in Pulaski, WI, expanding production capacity by 216,000 square feet. This strategic move positions Cruisers Yachts to double its capacity, ensuring a continuous supply of premium, American-built yachts. The same year saw MarineMax's acquisition, further solidifying the brand's presence in the premium yacht market.
