Design & Construction

Designed around a planing aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 8m beam and a 1.4m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 286 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in mid 2006 with the keel laid under the project name 'Bellissima CC'. Launched in May 2007 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in June 2007.

Exterior Design

The 41m (134.5ft) Codecasa Ability has the kind of profile that leaves little doubt about her purpose. Designed by Andrea Bacigalupo, the all-aluminium fast-planing hull sits low over the water with long sweeping lines, a sharply angled windscreen and an aggressive stance built around performance. Her black hull and dark glazing heighten the effect, while the clean superstructure and tapered deckhouse keep the silhouette lean despite the yacht’s volume.

Ability belongs to Codecasa’s 41S series, a line developed around lightweight aluminium construction and waterjet propulsion. The hull and superstructure use aluminium alloy throughout, helping reduce weight while supporting speeds up to 34 knots. Twin KA.ME.WA. side waterjets and a central booster jet work with three 2,400hp MTU engines, producing the distinctive fast-running attitude associated with the model.

Outdoor spaces have been arranged around open-air living. The aft cockpit combines shaded dining and lounge areas beneath the overhang of the upper deck, while a large concealed whirlpool tub sits beneath cushioned sunpads aft. Wide side decks run forward securely behind high bulwarks, leading to one of Ability’s most sociable exterior zones at the bow. Here, a large C-shaped seating arrangement surrounds convertible dining tables that can join into a single oval setup for as many as 14 guests. Twin sunpads sit forward beside the central walkway.

The flybridge extends the yacht’s outdoor footprint again, with a second helm station positioned beneath the radar mast for clear stern visibility while manoeuvring. Sunpads, chaise lounges and shaded seating create multiple lounging zones across the deck, while the open arrangement keeps sightlines uninterrupted across the water.

From carbon fiber at the helm to rich mahogany throughout, Ability strikes a balance of tradition and tech.

Interior Design

The interior of Ability takes a very different direction from the yacht’s sharp exterior styling. Created by Annamaria and Franco Della Role, the design leans heavily into classic detailing, rich timber finishes and traditional craftsmanship. Mahogany and feather mahogany appear throughout the yacht across bulkheads, cabinetry, doors and flooring, giving the interiors a warm, highly polished look that contrasts deliberately with the modern exterior.

The main saloon uses large side windows and a central skylight to draw natural light deep into the interior. Lounge seating lines both sides of the room around low tables, while the arrangement keeps the centreline open through the space. A sculpted bar area acts as a transition point between the lounge and formal dining section, where an oval dining table seats up to 10 guests beneath the overhead glazing.

Cream upholstery, polished stone surfaces and gloss timber combine with softer details including silk fabrics and carpeting in guest areas. The overall look is unmistakably traditional Italian yacht styling from the period, but the finish quality remains impressive. Integrated entertainment systems were advanced for the time and include large plasma displays, surround sound systems and Denon audio equipment throughout the guest spaces.

Forward of the dining area, a divider with wood and glass detailing separates the guest areas from the main helm station. The wheelhouse itself introduces a more technical atmosphere through carbon-fibre instrumentation panels, leather trim and extensive Furuno navigation equipment. A second helm station on the flybridge mirrors the sporty nature of the yacht and supports open-air cruising.

Accommodation

Ability accommodates up to 10 guests across five en suite cabins arranged on the lower deck. The full-beam owner’s suite sits amidships and uses the yacht’s 8m (26.2ft) beam to full effect. A centreline double bed faces a large television, while additional features include a sofa, desk, walk-in wardrobe and large oval portlights on both sides of the hull. The en suite bathroom spans the yacht’s width and includes twin vanity areas, a bathtub, separate toilet section and a central walk-through shower.

Guest accommodation includes two VIP double cabins forward, each with double beds, entertainment systems and private en suite bathrooms. A twin cabin sits to port with separate beds and its own en suite, while a fifth flexible cabin can operate as either an additional guest room, TV lounge, office or children’s playroom thanks to its convertible sofa-bed arrangement.

Across the guest accommodation, the styling follows the same warm mahogany finish used throughout the yacht, balanced by lighter carpets and marble bathrooms finished in Portoro, Portugal pink, honey onyx, dark Emperador and black Saint Laurent marble.

Crew accommodation is arranged separately forward of the engine room with space for six crew. The layout includes a captain’s cabin and two additional crew cabins alongside a dedicated crew mess, laundry and galley spaces to support extended cruising.

Performance & Capabilities

Motor yacht Ability is capable of reaching a top speed of 28 knots, and comfortably cruises at 25 knots. With her 23,400 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 450 nautical miles at 30 knots. Her planing hull design means she is fast and efficient as she slices through the water.

Ability’s forward dining area transforms to suit intimate meals or larger gatherings with ease.
