Design & Construction
Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium / teak superstructure she features a 5.46m beam and a 2.71m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 137 GT (Gross Tonnes).
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
The 37m motorsailer Atlantide carries the long, slender proportions of a classic gentleman’s yacht from the early twentieth century. Her narrow steel hull, extended bow overhang and elegant sheer line create a distinctive silhouette typical of yachts designed in the interwar period.
A dark blue hull contrasts with a white superstructure and extensive varnished teak. Two tall masts rise above the deckhouse, giving the yacht a traditional motorsailer profile while allowing her to move under sail when required.
The deck layout remains intentionally simple. A compact wheelhouse sits amidships beneath a raised bridge deck, while open deck areas forward and aft provide space for movement around the yacht. Large circular portholes punctuate the hull sides and reinforce the yacht’s period character.
Aft, the fantail forms a relaxed outdoor space framed by curved railings and varnished woodwork. The long bow and narrow foredeck emphasise the yacht’s original role as a fast tender to racing yachts.
During the rebuild completed by Royal Huisman’s Huisfit division, much of the exterior brightwork was restored and original bronze hardware was removed, refurbished and refitted. Modern navigation equipment and lighting were integrated discreetly so the yacht retains her historic appearance.
Interior Design
Atlantide’s interior was completely rebuilt during the Royal Huisman Huisfit project, replacing an earlier Art Deco scheme with a simpler style inspired by classic yachts of the 1930s.
The design was developed by deVosdeVries Design with a brief to align the interior character with that of the J Class yacht Hanuman. French walnut joinery forms the basis of the new interior, finished using a traditional hand-applied process to create an aged appearance.
A 14 step finishing method carried out by Acanthus International produced the antiqued surface effect through bleaching, colouring and French polishing techniques. The result is a softer and more restrained look than the previous decorative interior.
Wide plank walnut flooring replaces the former gloss teak and holly sole. Straight grain walnut panelling with burl insets lines the bulkheads, while painted overhead panels soften the spaces.
The main saloon now functions as a relaxed living space centred on deep sofas and lounge seating. The former indoor dining area forward has been converted into a media room with comfortable seating for guests.
Dining now takes place outdoors on the aft deck beneath a fixed bimini canopy. The galley retains its traditional position but has been updated with modern appliances and white cabinetry.
Accommodation
Atlantide was originally conceived as a compact support yacht rather than a large guest vessel, and her accommodation reflects that purpose.
The owner’s stateroom sits within the main accommodation area and was redesigned during the rebuild to work with the curvature of the hull. The bed was lowered to improve headroom and storage was reorganised to make better use of the available volume.
Detached bedside tables replace earlier built-in furniture while repositioned portholes bring more light into the space. Built in bookcases appear here and throughout other areas of the yacht.
A guest stateroom sits forward of the owner’s suite and carries the same walnut finishes and detailing.
Crew accommodation is arranged separately, allowing Atlantide to operate with a small professional crew of 6 suited to day cruising or regatta support duties.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Gardner (8L3B) 255hp engines, motor yacht Atlantide is capable of reaching a top speed of 12 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. With her 28,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,685 nautical miles at 10 knots.
