Design & Construction
Designed around a fast displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 7.2m beam and a 1.8m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 210 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Launched in October 2020 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.
Exterior Design
The 28.5m (93.5ft) explorer yacht Blondie was built by Van der Valk in aluminium and delivered in 2020 as part of the Dutch yard’s newer generation of long-range explorer yachts. Previously named Venera, the yacht combines trawler-style practicality with a sharper, more contemporary profile developed by Guido de Groot Design, Diana Yacht Design and Ginton Naval Architects.
Her exterior carries the rugged stance expected of an explorer yacht, although the detailing keeps the design clean rather than industrial. The high bow rises prominently from the waterline and gives the yacht real visual height forward, while the raised pilothouse arrangement creates a stepped superstructure profile that separates Blondie from flatter tri-deck layouts.
Large sections of glazing run through the superstructure and main deck, so the yacht avoids the heavy appearance sometimes associated with explorer designs. A continuous black styling line stretches along the profile and visually lengthens the yacht, while also helping break up the white hull sides. Dark-finished radar structures, mast sections and overhead detailing reduce visual bulk around the upper decks and help the profile remain balanced despite the forward-positioned superstructure.
The superstructure itself sits further forward than on many yachts of this size, which frees up substantial exterior deck space aft. That arrangement creates a large open aft deck area suited to tender handling, lounging or waterside entertaining.
Blondie’s sundeck was designed entirely around leisure use rather than secondary helm duties. The space includes a large dining table, an L-shaped seating area, bar facilities and open lounging zones, while the elevated position gives wide views across anchorages and coastlines.
An integrated crane system with 800kg lifting capacity supports tender operations while remaining visually worked into the yacht’s exterior styling.
Accommodation
Blondie accommodates up to 10 guests across five cabins, with space for four crew in aft crew quarters.
The owner’s suite sits on the main deck forward thanks to the raised pilothouse arrangement. This position gives the cabin additional separation from the lower guest accommodation while also benefiting from elevated views and natural light.
Guest accommodation includes two VIP double cabins and two twin cabins located on the lower deck. The layout works well for family cruising or mixed charter groups, with a practical balance between double and twin accommodation.
Crew quarters are positioned aft to maintain operational separation between guest and crew circulation. Accommodation for four crew supports private or charter operation without requiring excessive staffing levels.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by 1 x MAN (V12) 1,627hp engines, motor yacht Blondie is capable of reaching a top speed of 20 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. With her 22,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 2,900 nautical miles. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.
