Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement fiberglass hull and a GRP superstructure she features a 7.62m beam and a 2.18m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 323 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Launched in May 2002 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.
Exterior Design
Charlotte Ann is a 38.1m (125ft) Cheoy Lee motor yacht with the long, low profile that defined the yard’s larger raised pilothouse yachts of this period. Her lines carry clear Tom Fexas influence, with a mild clipper bow, a reversed transom and the distinctive dark saloon glazing that gives the profile a stretched, slightly feline look. The broad 6.4m (21ft) beam also helps her sit with real substance on the water, while the relatively modest 1.6m (5.3ft) draft opens up shallower cruising grounds than many yachts in this size bracket.
The main aft deck is shaded by the overhang above, so it works well as an open-air dining and entertaining space, and it links straight into the saloon through large sliding glass doors. Side decks are wide and well protected, with the bridge deck overhang also helping keep heat and glare off the main-deck windows.
The flybridge makes full use of the yacht’s beam, with twin curved lounges, a dining table, Stidd helm chairs and a hardtop supported by a swept radar arch. A wet bar and JennAir grill sit just aft of the seating area, so the deck works well for long lunches as well as casual evenings. The boat deck has space for the tender and toys, and a Nautical Structures davit handles launching duties.
Aft at water level, the teak swim platform adds another practical guest area, and the platform is flanked by two useful stern spaces: one for toy storage and one configured as a dive room with shower. Forward, the foredeck has room for sunpads and additional lounging, giving Charlotte Ann several separate exterior zones for guests to spread out.
Interior Design
Inside, Charlotte Ann has the rich joinery and traditional build quality that long sat at the heart of Cheoy Lee’s appeal. Mahogany and sapelle pompele woods run throughout the main guest areas, finished in a deep clear urethane that gives the surfaces real depth, while the detailing is precise and highly polished. The style is classic, but the scale of the spaces keeps it from feeling heavy.
The main saloon is one of the yacht’s strongest rooms. It runs more than 9m (30ft) from the aft doors to the buffet forward, so it has unusual length for a yacht of this size, and the surrounding frameless windows keep it bright. Seating is arranged with paired leather settees and cocktail tables, and the space also incorporates an entertainment centre as well as a wet bar with refrigeration and liquor storage. Forward, the formal dining area seats eight, framed by a mirrored buffet and detailed ceiling work that keeps the room feeling dressed without crowding it.
The galley is enclosed on three sides and built as a serious working space, with Avonite counters, wood-faced cabinetry and a full suite of stainless steel appliances. The pilothouse continues the same standard of finish, and pairs a practical helm to port with a dinette to starboard, so it works as a working bridge and also a comfortable observation lounge underway. Pantograph side doors give direct deck access, and the console was laid out around the chosen electronics package, so the helm has the feel of a proper custom installation.
Accommodation
Charlotte Ann accommodates up to 10 guests in five cabins, with a layout that makes good use of her beam and keeps the owner’s space properly separate from the guest area.
The full-beam master suite sits amidships and benefits from a private stairwell from the saloon, so it feels tucked away from the rest of the yacht. A king-size bed sits centrally in the cabin, with built-in furniture, a large walk-in wardrobe and excellent use of the yacht’s width. The en suite is split into his-and-hers sections aft, with one side arranged around a shower and the other around a Jacuzzi tub, so it has the kind of arrangement owners still look for on larger yachts.
Guest accommodation sits below, reached via a second stairwell. A spacious VIP suite takes the full beam aft of the foyer and is fitted with a queen berth, large wardrobe and a substantial en suite with Jacuzzi bath. Forward of that are two more guest cabins, one with a queen berth and one with twin singles, and both have their own en suite bathrooms with showers. Additional descriptions tied to later use of the yacht refer to a five-cabin layout with a full-beam main-deck master, three doubles and one twin, all en suite, so the accommodation has likely been refreshed and reworked across refits, while the overall 10-guest capacity has stayed consistent.
Crew accommodation is forward, with space for seven. The layout includes a captain’s cabin with a double berth, a twin-bunk cabin, and a crew lounge or office space that can also serve as an occasional extra berth.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3512B) 12-cylinder 2,250hp engines running at 1925rpm, motor yacht Charlotte Ann is capable of reaching a top speed of 21 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots. With her 37,097 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
Amenities
A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Charlotte Ann also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
