Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 9m beam and a 2.37m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 406 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in early 2012 with the keel laid under the project name 'Project 688'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in January 2014 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in April 2014.
Exterior Design
Excellence V is a 46.2m Feadship motor yacht designed by Dubois Naval Architects, and the profile in this image makes the key ideas clear straight away. The yacht sits low and long, with a raised pilothouse configuration that keeps the superstructure compact while opening up deck space around it.
The bow is upright with a whaleback sheer line, rising high forward before tapering aft, and this gives the yacht a dry ride as well as a larger working foredeck. A pronounced knuckle runs along the forward hull to deflect spray, while the foredeck itself remains clean and open.
A defining feature is the continuous dark glazing band that runs almost the full length of the superstructure. In this image, you can see how it wraps around the saloon and forward sections, sitting proud of the metal structure rather than recessed, which keeps the surface visually smooth and uninterrupted. Lower down, large rectangular hull windows and smaller openings are spaced along the topsides, bringing light into the guest areas.
The flybridge is enclosed by curved glass panels, and these can be raised or lowered. The image shows the structure clearly, with the glass forming a protective screen around the deck while maintaining open sightlines. Above, a slim mast carries radar domes and antennas, arranged to keep the profile balanced.
Aft, the decks step cleanly between levels, with the upper deck overhang shading the main deck below. The layout avoids heavy structures, so the yacht keeps a light, streamlined look despite the volume.
Interior Design
The interior uses dark timbers and controlled contrast, with scrubbed oak joinery set against glossy Macassar cabinetry and stainless steel trim. The palette stays tight, with neutral fabrics and limited colour variation.
The main saloon is arranged as a multi-use space, and the key feature is a rotating seating platform. The central seating group can turn to face the television, the aft deck, or the dining area, which changes how the space works without altering the layout.
A sit-up bar links the interior to the aft deck, and when the doors are open, this becomes one continuous social area. Large windows run along both sides, matching the exterior glazing and keeping the interior bright.
On the upper level, the flybridge helm integrates into the social space, so navigation and guest areas share the same environment without separation.
Accommodation
Excellence V accommodates 10 guests in 5 cabins, with 8 crew.
The owner’s cabin is on the main deck, positioned to take advantage of the large forward glazing. Below, there are two double cabins and two twin cabins, all with en suite bathrooms.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32 Acert) 1,902hp engines running at 2300rpm, motor yacht Excellence V is capable of reaching a top speed of 19 knots, and comfortably cruises at 15 knots. With her 51,001 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,000 nautical miles at 15 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
