Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and a steel/aluminium superstructure she features a 18.5m beam and a 5.4m draft. The yacht is built over 7 decks with an internal volume of 6,539 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. She was delivered to her owners in November 1990.
Exterior Design
Spanning 104.85m (344ft) in length with a beam of 18.5m (60.8ft), Lady Moura remains one of the most commanding silhouettes afloat. Her streamlined, seven-deck profile is defined by sleek structural lines and a gleaming white hull that replaced the original blue for easier maintenance and a cleaner aesthetic. The exterior design, developed by Luigi Sturchio in collaboration with Blohm + Voss, strikes a balance between visual restraint and mechanical sophistication.
Lady Moura pioneered many features now common in large yachts, including fold-down balconies, hidden side gangways, and hydraulic sea terraces. These were all integrated into her steel hull and aluminium superstructure, giving her what the shipyard described as a “perforated hull” - a design challenge solved with in-house engineering and novel strength calculations.
The main deck includes a fold-out beach club set at the waterline, created by opening a shell door and setting lounge furniture on white beach sand. Tenders are housed behind flush hydraulic doors, preserving the clean exterior lines. A standout feature is the expansive helideck forward of the uppermost deck. Originally finished in bright blue cement, it has been upgraded with a more discreet rubber surface in a neutral tone, increasing both practicality and style.
At the top, the sun deck presents one of the yacht’s signature outdoor spaces: a full-beam pool area enclosed in blue-tinted glass, complete with a retractable roof. The pool itself measures 4.3m (14.1ft) by 5.2m (17ft), with a uniform depth of 1.5m (4.9ft), and can be filled in just 25 minutes with either saltwater or freshwater depending on preference. This area is surrounded by casual seating, coffee and dining tables, a spa pool, and a terrace for lounging or social events. It’s a carefully considered space that combines openness with shelter and privacy.
Teak decking throughout has been entirely replaced, and small design features such as pop-up navigation lights, a retractable mast, and sliding bridge wings all contribute to Lady Moura’s smooth, uncluttered appearance.
Interior Design
Lady Moura’s vast interior volume of 6,539 GT is used to full effect inside. Sturchio’s interior design embraces classical luxury, with glossy mahogany finishes, soft cream carpets, and high-end detailing that stretches down long corridors and into sprawling guest areas. Despite her age, the yacht retains many original features thanks to meticulous upkeep and a long-serving crew.
The main saloon on the main deck is expansive and richly decorated, designed for both relaxation and entertaining. Opposite, the formal dining room features a striking 18m (59ft) table by Viscount Linley, able to seat between 18 and 24 guests. The room blends grandeur with intimacy and has hosted everything from quiet family dinners to formal receptions.
A more informal family saloon is found on the bridge deck and opens out onto an aft terrace, offering another social area away from the more ceremonial spaces below. Across the decks, hidden service routes, pantries, and staff areas allow for discreet operation and seamless service.
Entertainment spaces include a plush cinema with deep-set sofas and classical columns, located adjacent to a hidden hair salon. These features exemplify the yacht’s mix of indulgence and practicality. A DJ station can be set up in this area, transforming it from theatre to party zone when required.
The galley layout supports both private and professional use. There’s a dedicated galley for the owner’s personal chef and another for the crew. Additional features such as bakeries, laundries, workshops, and crew gyms are tucked away on the tank deck. The design supports not only lifestyle and luxury but the full-scale operation needed to support up to 99 people on board.
Crew areas are just as considered as the guest spaces, with a suite of offices located on the bridge deck for senior staff and well-equipped working areas spread across the yacht. Two crew staircases and lifts run fore and aft, linking all levels efficiently.
Accommodation
Lady Moura accommodates up to 27 guests in 13 cabins, each finished to an exceptionally high standard with luxurious furnishings and full en-suites. Among them is a full-beam VIP suite on the owner’s deck, decorated in deep burr wood with smoked mirrors and a private dressing room. It rivals the master cabins of many other yachts in size and finish.
The owner’s suite spans the aft half of its deck level. It comprises a bright main bedroom with direct access to a private terrace, a secondary sleeping area, a large dressing room, and a central lobby featuring a wall of integrated television screens. This suite has been designed to feel completely separate from the rest of the yacht, forming a private retreat.
Also on the owner’s deck are five generously sized guest cabins decorated in a lighter style, four of which are fitted with Pullman beds to accommodate additional guests such as children or staff. Each includes an en-suite bathroom and separate dressing room.
Crew accommodation is extensive, with capacity for up to 72 personnel. Cabins are located primarily on the lower deck, and all include en-suite facilities. The layout prioritises comfort and efficiency, reflecting the long tenure of many of Lady Moura’s crew members. Facilities for the crew include a hospital, gym, bakery, workshops, and significant storage capacity, as well as their own separate galleys and laundries to maintain operational flow.
Additional staff cabins are provided for private personnel such as hairdressers, beauticians, and support staff, while a network of offices supports administrative functions on board. These behind-the-scenes arrangements ensure that Lady Moura’s hotel-like experience is matched by world-class logistics.
Performance & Capabilities
Two robust Deutz engines, each producing 6,868 horsepower, power Lady Moura. These robust engines allow her to achieve a maximum speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of 17 knots. Not only is she swift, but she also boasts an impressive range of 8,000 nautical miles at her cruising speed, thanks to her substantial fuel capacity of 870,000 liters.
The yacht's draft at full load is 5.4m, and she has a displacement of 7,700 tonnes. Despite her size and weight, Lady Moura has been equipped with mechanical stabilizers to ensure smooth sailing and comfort for her passengers.
Amenities
Rest and relaxation can be achieved on board, thanks to a luxury spa. Waterfront living can be enjoyed to the fullest, thanks to a large beach club and connecting swim platform with plenty of space for sitting back and admiring the sea views. The yacht can house plenty of nautical toys and accessories, with a well-appointed tender garage for storing her impressive locker. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort, while underwater lights create a dazzling light display when the sun goes down and an elevator makes the yacht fully-accessible.
