Delivered in 2026, Octopus is a 35m expedition yacht built by Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche. The yacht's refined interiors have been crafted by Giorgio M. Cassetta, while her exteriors have been penned by Horacio Bozzo Design.

Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 7.55m beam and a 2.45m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 299 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the first yacht built on the Deep Blue 115 design. Launched in April 2026 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Cantiere delle Marche's Cantiere delle Marche yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners in July 2026.

Exterior Design

Octopus is the first yacht in Cantiere delle Marche's 35m (115ft) Deep Blue 115 series, a platform born from the success of the custom 43.1m (141.4ft) Acala, now named Orixá. Rather than simply reducing the earlier yacht's dimensions, CdM and Horacio Bozzo reworked the concept around a new platform that preserves the Deep Blue identity while meeting the needs of owners looking for a capable explorer below the 300GT threshold. The result is a yacht that carries the same long-range philosophy as her larger sister without feeling like a scaled-down copy.

Horacio Bozzo's exterior balances strength with refinement. A boldly flared bow introduces the Deep Blue family's distinctive "beak" profile, created by a subtle separation between the upper bow structure and the hull below. This detail continues aft beneath the upper deck overhangs, reducing the apparent mass of the superstructure and giving the yacht a greater sense of movement than her full-displacement hull might suggest. Large areas of dark glazing reinforce the horizontal emphasis, while the oversized forward windows become one of the yacht's defining visual signatures. Their recessed mullions appear to float independently from the surrounding structure, drawing natural light deep into the interior without interrupting the clean lines of the profile.

The aft deck reflects CdM's belief that explorer yachts should be as enjoyable at anchor as they are at sea. A swimming pool forms the centrepiece of the cockpit, surrounded by generous seating that connects directly with the main saloon, while the broad swim platform creates an easy transition to the water. Rather than occupying valuable deck space, the tender is housed in an aft garage behind a port-side shell door, keeping the exterior uncluttered and preserving the beach area for guests once the tender has launched.

Wide side decks, high bulwarks and well-protected walkways reveal the practical thinking behind the styling. These are not decorative explorer cues but features intended to make moving safely around the yacht easier during long passages and poor weather. That approach reflects Cantiere delle Marche's wider engineering philosophy, where offshore capability takes priority and styling grows naturally from function instead of the other way around.

Interior Design

Giorgio M. Cassetta approached the interior from a different perspective to many explorer yachts. Rather than emphasising darker timbers and traditional detailing, he introduced a brighter, more expressive palette that softens the yacht's robust architecture and creates a warmer residential atmosphere for extended cruising.

The oversized glazing established by the exterior becomes one of the defining features inside. Natural light reaches deep into the principal living spaces, while uninterrupted views of the sea keeping a constant presence throughout the day.  

The layout has been planned around life on board over weeks rather than weekends. Large communal spaces encourage guests to gather without feeling crowded, while generous circulation routes and practical storage support long periods away from marinas. Instead of treating luxury and functionality as competing priorities, the interior combines both, creating living spaces that remain comfortable whether crossing an ocean or spending extended time at anchor.

Accommodation

Octopus accommodates up to 10 guests across five cabins, including a main-deck owner's suite, while separate accommodation for seven crew occupies four cabins.

Positioning the owner's suite on the main deck allows the principal cabin to benefit from the yacht's signature oversized windows and uninterrupted views, while separating it from the guest accommodation below. This arrangement also gives the owner greater privacy during longer voyages, as the suite remains removed from the circulation associated with the lower guest deck.

The remaining guest cabins provide comfortable accommodation for family and friends while maintaining generous storage and circulation throughout the lower deck. Rather than maximising cabin numbers, the layout balances guest comfort with the practical requirements of an explorer yacht, ensuring that extended cruising does not compromise everyday usability.

Performance & Capabilities

Octopus has been designed first and foremost as a yacht for serious long-range cruising. Her full-displacement steel hull and aluminium superstructure prioritise seaworthiness, efficiency and comfort over outright speed, while twin Caterpillar C18 IMO Tier III diesel engines producing 715hp each deliver a top speed of 13.5 knots and an economical cruising speed of 9 knots.

Fuel capacity of 45,000 litres gives the yacht a transoceanic range of approximately 5,500 nautical miles, allowing passages such as the Mediterranean to the Caribbean or Northern Europe to the east coast of North America without intermediate refuelling. That level of autonomy gives owners far greater freedom when planning extended itineraries and reduces dependence on major bunkering ports.

Equally important is the platform itself. Cantiere delle Marche has built its reputation by engineering explorer yachts for conditions well beyond those encountered during typical coastal cruising. Robust construction, conservative engineering margins and proven systems are intended to deliver reliability over thousands of miles at sea, while careful attention to noise and vibration ensures the onboard experience remains quiet and comfortable throughout long passages.

At 299GT, Octopus also occupies one of the most practical size categories in the explorer market. The yacht delivers the volume expected of a much larger vessel while remaining below the regulatory thresholds that increase operational complexity, allowing owners to enjoy genuine expedition capability with a more efficient and manageable platform.
