Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and superstructure she features a 9.4m beam and a 3.8m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 752 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

Exterior Design

Built by Astilleros y Talleres Celaya in 1973 to a Sparkman & Stephens design, Voyager has the unmistakable look of a working expedition ship rather than a modern white-hulled superyacht. Her long steel hull, upright bow and high freeboard give the yacht a purposeful stance, while the dark grey hull contrasts sharply against the pale superstructure and teak detailing.

The broad foredeck is kept largely open and functional, with heavy-duty ground tackle, working rails and clear walkaround access. Amidships, the yacht’s commercial roots remain visible through the compact bridge structure and industrial-style mast arrangement, while the aft deck transitions into a large operational zone centred around the helicopter platform. The certified helipad sits high above the aft section and forms one of Voyager’s defining visual features, immediately setting the yacht apart from conventional long-range cruisers.

The exterior layout was shaped around exploration capability. Wide side decks allow safe movement throughout the yacht in remote cruising conditions, and the open deck spaces support helicopter operations, tender handling and extended provisioning. The aft upper deck also doubles as a social area with a large teak dining table, barbecue and wet bar positioned for open-air entertaining.

Interior Design

Voyager’s current interior came from a complete redesign after her sale in 2008, followed by another major refit completed in 2020. The atmosphere is lighter and more contemporary than many expedition yachts of this age, with pale timber panelling, cream carpeting and large windows softening the yacht’s substantial internal volume.

The upper lounge uses a relaxed arrangement with oversized sofas, occasional chairs and a dark timber bar positioned against the windows. Coffered ceilings and recessed lighting bring structure without making the spaces feel heavy, while the lighter finish keeps the yacht bright throughout the day. Forward, the formal dining space continues the same approach with understated detailing and built-in wine storage integrated into the cabinetry.

The interior never loses sight of Voyager’s original purpose. Rooms are wide, circulation space is generous and the yacht feels built for long stays onboard rather than short coastal trips. The skylounge also has the option to convert into an additional owner’s suite, adding flexibility for private use or charter operation.

Accommodation

Voyager accommodates up to 22 guests across 11 cabins, which remains unusual for a yacht of this size. The arrangement suits expedition charter work and large family cruising particularly well, especially with the yacht certified to carry 33 people in total.

The main owner’s suite sits on the upper deck and uses darker mahogany finishes than the guest spaces, creating a warmer and more traditional feel. The skylounge can also convert into a second owner’s suite when required.

Guest accommodation includes two VIP cabins, four doubles, two connecting twin cabins and a convertible cabin. Cabins were designed for extended cruising, so desk space, storage and practical layouts matter as much as appearance.

Voyager also carries accommodation for up to 19 crew, supporting long-range operations, helicopter activity and remote-area cruising without compromising guest service onboard.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (D399) 1,125hp engines, motor yacht Voyager is capable of reaching a top speed of 16 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 138,910 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 8,100 nautical miles at 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.

Amenities

The yacht can house plenty of nautical toys and accessories, with a well-appointed tender garage for storing her impressive locker. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Voyager also features an inviting spread of sunpads and deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
