The Hatteras GT59 is a serious US offshore sportsfisher designed for owner or crew operation, usually at high speed.
The tough deep Vee hull will easily hit 40knots and do so in most seas.
With such abilities, the GT59 also makes a highly capable and comfortable cruiser. Various interior layouts create cabins offering from four to seven berths.

About
Accommodation
The Hatteras evokes a classically nautical flavour inside with plenty of rich cabinetry. As is usual with this style of offshore sportsfisher, there is no lower helm so space is dedicated to living within a social surround of salon seating and a dinette, the galley feeling part of the conversation.
A timber sole and long deep windows give the salon a clean, open but also charming feel. There are also some fun lighting options including a back-lit worktop.
Although there are numerous layouts, the Owner’s cabin will always be amidships with a double berth, ensuite facilities and lots of cabinetry and stowage. Guest cabins offer a double, twin or triple crew option forward, with the option of a third cabin or a rod room.
On Deck
Up top, the flybridge is more about working than relaxing. Accessed by a vertical ladder, the layout sees a deep, lounger-style seat forward and wraparound benches following the outline of the flybridge.
With no lower helm, the flybridge offers the sole steering position. Designed for optimum visibility, particularly over the stern for when the fight is on, the role of the helm is to assist those fishing and manoeuvre the yachts when a bite is on or a shoal is found. The helm station has a central console with space for triple MFD screens and an overhead console for ancillary equipment. Single or twin helm seats can be fitted with the adjustable wheel set on a teak plinth.
A secondary helm can be added to the optional tuna tower, with repeater throttle and steering controls.
More of a stylistic attribute today, the clean open foredeck is a design trait of the GT59’s working routes. Accessed via narrow side decks it is only for the fleet of foot and used for taking a line or fixing a fender.
The main guest area is the aft cockpit, with a raised bench seat overlooking the deck where, particularly if the optional fighting chair is fitted, the action takes place. Specialist stowage is found on and below decks, including rod holders, bate wells and seawater or cold stores for the catch. A nice touch, the bench seat comes with the option of an air-conditioned backrest.
Performance & Capabilities
Big turbo diesel engines and a deep Vee hull are a classic offshore combination and with this particular hull being very deep and very good, the GT59 is able to carry its 40-knot top speed through some serious seas.
There are multiple horsepower options, but, with the standard set-up delivering that 40-knot hit you may not need to go for more. The Hatteras has an all Caterpillar engine line-up, with twin 1600hp Caterpillar C32 ACERT D01, 1800hp Caterpillar C32 ACERT E02 and 1900hp Caterpillar C32 ACERT E03
Big 6624lt (1750gl) fuel tanks deliver a range of around 545nm at 11knots.
From The Manufacturer
Watch. It’s the night before the start of a tournament. Boaters at the marina stop and stare at the all-new GT59, with a distinct look of admiration for the team that will call this sleek convertible “home” for the weekend. The most sensible anglers know it’s impossible to overstate the value of a quiet, bump-free ride at 40+ knots. Or the importance of stressfree boat handling. Or the beauty of being able to stretch out in wide-open living spaces after the fish have been boated and the rods have been secured.
Hatteras builds the new GT59 with an acute understanding of tournament life in mind. The designers are fishermen, too, so they refine every detail for the best possible experience — and then re-refine it. The result? The most reliable seakeeping and most comfortable ride in this class, with a commitment to forward-thinking technology. No wonder so many people stand in awe.
