Following its European debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September, the GranOcean W-72 Open power catamaran will return to the international boat show circuit. Designed by naval architect Howard Apollonio, with exterior styling by GranOcean and interiors by Vripack, the model has been developed for extended cruising with a strong emphasis on customisation.
Expansive outdoor living across two decks
With a beam of 10m, the yacht provides substantial outdoor space, including a sheltered aft cockpit, an open flybridge and a foredeck relaxation area. The main deck connects directly with the interior saloon, allowing guests to move easily between indoor and outdoor entertaining areas.
The flybridge provides additional seating and shaded relaxation spaces, with buyers able to choose between open and enclosed configurations. The standard open arrangement offers several seating areas, while alternative layouts allow owners to adapt the space to their cruising preferences.
Panoramic interiors by Vripack
Inside the motor yacht, Vripack has created a contemporary living environment centred on natural light and views of the surrounding water. Large panoramic windows wrap around the main saloon, while the catamaran's wide beam provides generous proportions throughout the communal areas.
An open-plan arrangement connects the lounge and dining spaces with the aft cockpit, creating a continuous social area across the main deck. Owners can also customise the interior configuration, including the position of the galley, furniture arrangements and finishes.
Flexible accommodation for up to 12 guests
The motor yacht's standard arrangement accommodates ten guests across five cabins, comprising four double cabins and one bunk cabin. An optional six-cabin arrangement increases capacity to 12 guests, providing additional flexibility for larger groups.
For buyers seeking greater privacy, an Owner's Edition dedicates the entire port hull to a private suite. Alternative configurations prioritise additional guest accommodation, while two separate crew cabins provide space for crew members during extended voyages.
Multiple engine and propulsion options
The W-72 Open is available with twin Cummins QSB6.7 engines producing 542hp each, twin Cummins QSM11 engines rated at 705hp each or twin Caterpillar C18 engines delivering 1,001hp each.
Optional hybrid propulsion and solar installations are also available, allowing owners to tailor the yacht's technical specification. A full-load draft of 1.3m provides access to shallower cruising areas, although confirmed speed and range figures have not been supplied.
