A luxury power catamaran for serious cruising
Measuring 22 meters with a 10-meter beam, the W-72 Open has been conceived as a bluewater cruising catamaran capable of supporting extended time aboard without sacrificing comfort or entertaining space.
Rather than prioritizing outright speed, the catamaran focuses on efficiency, stability and usable living areas. The twin-hull configuration delivers substantially more interior volume than a comparable monohull while providing expansive outdoor spaces across the main deck and flybridge.
GranOcean has also designed the yacht around owner flexibility. Buyers can choose between the standard open flybridge displayed at Cannes or an enclosed flybridge version, while numerous other aspects of the yacht can be tailored during construction.
A layout tailored to every owner
Customization is central to the W-72 Open's design philosophy. Owners can select different cabin arrangements, move the galley between the main and lower decks, specify alternative furniture layouts and configure tender storage to suit their cruising plans.
The platform also offers optional solar installations, hybrid propulsion packages and a choice of engine configurations, allowing buyers to tailor the motor yacht for different operating profiles. An Owner's Edition dedicates the entire port hull to a private suite, while alternative layouts prioritize additional guest accommodation or larger social areas.
Light-filled interiors by Vripack
Interior design comes from Dutch studio Vripack, with an emphasis on natural light and uninterrupted views through large panoramic windows. The standard arrangement accommodates up to 10 guests across five cabins, with generous communal living areas positioned between the two hulls.
Wide glazing creates strong visual connections with the surrounding water, while the broad beam allows larger cabins and circulation spaces than would normally be possible on a yacht of this length. The open-plan main salon flows directly onto the aft cockpit, creating a practical layout for both entertaining and extended cruising.
Although European visitors will be seeing the yacht publicly for the first time, the W-72 Open has already attracted industry attention after receiving a nomination in the Power Catamaran Above 20m category at the 2026 Yacht Style Awards.
More first-time European appearances at Cannes
The GranOcean W-72 Open joins several notable European premieres at this year's Cannes Yachting Festival.
The 40-meter Numarine 40MXP, exhibited aboard the first hull Miouch, brings long-range explorer capability with a 6,000-nautical-mile range, a larger beach club and expanded outdoor entertaining areas. At the other end of the spectrum, the 15.85-meter Manari 52 arrives as a high-performance sports yacht capable of 45 knots, featuring a side-opening balcony, generous outdoor social spaces and accommodation for four guests across two cabins.
Also appearing for the first time in Europe is the Aquila 45 Sport. The 14.17-meter performance catamaran features double-stepped hulls capable of speeds exceeding 50 mph, fold-down side terraces and a cockpit developed around watersports and entertaining.
