On Deck

The 660's hydraulic swim platform is designed to submerge 0.6m (2ft) below the waterline and lift up to 800kg. It's not just a tender lift but also a lounging space in its own right, with safe integrated steps and side cut-outs that make boarding easy.

Moving up, the aft deck is thoughtfully set up for entertaining, with a built-in electric grill, wet bar, and countertop workspace. The fold-out side balconies are a standout feature, increasing the cockpit area by 25% and creating a true open-air entertaining zone.

Both side decks lead forward with safe, well-placed grab rails and wide walkways. At the bow, guests will find an inviting lounge area with convertible tables and cushions that form a spacious sunpad. A carbon fiber pole-supported sunshade provides cover, while pop-up lights, a wet bar with sink, and insulated iceboxes keep it practical and comfortable. Additional storage and anchor gear, including a fresh water washdown, windlass, and spare anchor, are housed beneath wide hatches. The detailing extends to chafe guards and pop-up lighting, with all metalwork and fixtures appearing solid and stylish.

On the flybridge, entertainment continues with a large layout that includes a convertible sunroof, dining table, additional barbecue and ice chest, and flexible lounge arrangements. Carbon fiber poles support optional sunshades, and the flybridge is fully enclosable and air-conditioning ready. There’s a docking station aft with Volvo engine controls and an IPS joystick, while side fold-down bulwarks further extend usable space when at anchor or in suitable marinas.

Interior Accommodation

The interior is entered directly via the aft deck and delivers an open-plan main deck with zero threshold all the way through. The salon features massive windows, electric blinds, and ample seating around a large dining table and lounge area with a substantial TV and surround sound system. The feeling is upscale, with high-end finishes and a warm, welcoming flow.

The galley is positioned aft on the port side and is finished in a clean, modern style with full-size appliances, including a tall fridge-freezer, microwave oven, four-burner cooktop, and ample overhead and undercounter storage. A trash bin, wine cooler, and deep drawers complete the fit-out, with semi-custom options allowing owners to tailor the layout and appliance choices to suit their preferences.

A few steps forward lead to the interior helm, which includes full Volvo controls, Raymarine electronics, trim tabs, windlass operation, sunroof controls, and a Seakeeper 9 stabiliser system. Visibility from this position is excellent, making it a comfortable helm for poor weather operation.

Integrated lighting, air-conditioning controls, and entertainment systems are neatly positioned throughout, with all systems cleanly mounted out of the way.

Owner's Cabin

The owner’s stateroom is located midships via a private staircase and occupies the full beam of the yacht. It’s a spacious, well-appointed suite with generous headroom and large hull windows for natural light. The stateroom includes a large wardrobe on each side, a third wardrobe with a safe, a built-in vanity or desk with drawers, and a settee that could easily serve as an additional sleeping spot.

One particularly clever option is a hidden TV concealed behind a mirrored panel. And because this is a semi-custom yacht, owners have the option to extend wardrobe space further or replace the settee with additional storage. It’s even possible to add a doorway aft from the stateroom into the crew quarters, converting that area into a large walk-in closet and utility space.

The ensuite head is generously sized with a separate shower, a bidet and storage.

Guest Accommodation

There are three additional staterooms forward. On the port side is a convertible twin that can be configured as a queen using an insert. The starboard cabin is an identical mirror of this, both with shared access to the day head.

The day head is compact with a toilet, sink, clever storage, and a separate shower space. Though small, it provides enough room to get ready comfortably.

At the bow, the VIP cabin offers a near walkaround bed, again slightly larger than a standard queen. There’s good headroom, a TV, and two wardrobes including a generous hanging locker. The VIP benefits from an ensuite bathroom with similar storage and shower space to the day head.

Crew Accommodation

The crew quarters are located aft and accessed via a more discreet entry. While not full standing height for all, they offer more than many in this class. It’s a single-crew setup ideal for an owner-operator or one professional hand. There’s a folding berth for flexibility, drawers, storage lockers, and a compact wet head that doubles as a shower. In the semi-custom configuration, this area can be reworked entirely into a walk-in wardrobe and laundry zone for the owner’s stateroom, with internal access from the suite and a passthrough to the engine room.

Performance

Accessed from the crew area or externally, the engine room is spacious and neat. The Schaefer 660 is powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS 1200 engines, delivering a top speed of 36 knots and a fast cruise around 27 to 28 knots. Docking and slow-speed maneuvering are simplified by the IPS joystick system.

The engine space also houses the Seakeeper 9, generator, air-conditioning chillers, battery chargers, and fuel shut-offs. Everything is accessible, with neat routing of systems and room to move around for maintenance. There’s direct service access to the IPS pods and all critical components, including breakers and the Fireboy suppression system.

In Summary

The Brazilian-built Schaefer 660 is a bold entry into the 20m (66ft) class, delivering big-boat features with a semi-custom twist that’s rarely found at this size. From the two fold-out balconies and submersible swim platform to the full-beam owner’s suite and convertible flybridge, there’s flexibility and finesse in equal measure.

With four staterooms, three full heads, a fully enclosable and air-conditioning-ready flybridge, and standout entertainment zones bow to stern, this is a yacht designed to entertain, explore, and be tailored to suit your lifestyle.
