Each year, only a small number of yachts reach the level required for a YachtBuyer 5 Star Trophy. The award is reserved for the most complete new models we test, and in 2025, that meant selecting just five winners from 74 full reviews - representing only 7% of all yachts assessed.
Our team traveled across eight countries, covering Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Spain, Italy, Finland, France, and Monaco to put this year’s boats through their paces. Testing took place at major shows and in dedicated sea trial locations, giving us a wide spread of sizes and styles so the awards remain useful to all, from weekend cruisers to large-yacht buyers.
Below, we outline why each model earned a place among the 2025 YachtBuyer Award winners.
Damen Yachting Xplorer 58 - The Xplorer 58 adapts Damen’s long-range DNA into a smaller platform that still feels purposeful on the water. Strong engineering, practical storage, and a layout built for real passages set it apart from other compact explorer concepts.
Riva 112 Dolcevita Super - The 112 Dolcevita Super stood out for its build quality and the way Riva executed key details across the entire boat. The interior finish, exterior glazing, and confident helm response created a package that felt resolved and consistent at every level.
Princess Y72 - The Y72 earned its place through a layout with a strong full-beam owner’s cabin, a well-sized VIP, and practical deck spaces that felt genuinely usable during testing. Its settled handling at 20 to 28 knots reinforced the sense of a well-resolved hull in this size bracket.
Pearl 63 - The Pearl 63 advanced the strengths of the 62 with meaningful updates, from new balconies to a larger tender garage that takes a semi-inflated MiniJet. The accommodation plan, Hoppen-designed interior themes, and well-sorted IPS handling secured its position among this year’s highest-rated models.
Targa 32 Coupé - The Targa 32 earned its award through capability and handling that remain rare in this size. Its build quality, helm ergonomics, and composed ride in demanding conditions reinforced why this model continues to hold such a strong reputation.
The rarity of the YB 5 Star Award is clear to see, with just five inductees in 2025. But what a group they are, with the likes of jaw-dropping Damen Yachting Xplorer 58 and the genre-defining Botnia Targa 32."
