Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 7.55m beam and a 2.45m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 299 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the first yacht built on the Deep Blue 115 design. Launched in April 2026 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Cantiere delle Marche's Cantiere delle Marche yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners.

Exterior Design

The 35m (115ft) explorer yacht Octopus was built by Cantiere delle Marche as part of the Deep Blue project line developed with designer and naval architect Horacio Bozzo. The yacht takes direct inspiration from the larger 43m (141ft) Acala, although the platform was extensively reworked rather than simply scaled down.

From the profile, Octopus carries a distinctly modern explorer character with a strong horizontal emphasis, deep bulwarks and heavily structured glazing bands. The design balances sharp geometric forms with softer detailing around the upper decks, so the yacht feels contemporary without becoming overly aggressive.

Large black glazing sections dominate the hull and superstructure, visually stretching the profile and reducing the apparent height of the yacht. The forward hull windows sit unusually low and elongated for an explorer yacht, while the bridge deck glazing wraps almost continuously around the pilothouse structure to create a lighter appearance higher up.

The bow remains upright and purposeful, although the yacht avoids the fully industrial look seen on some expedition platforms. Wide exterior walkways and protected deck areas reinforce the long-range brief, while the layered superstructure creates several sheltered outdoor spaces across different levels.

One of the yacht’s more unusual design features is the internal tender garage positioned within the hull and accessed through a port-side shell door. The arrangement stores a 4.5m (15ft) tender internally rather than on exposed deck space, which is still relatively uncommon on a yacht of this size.

The aft deck and swim platform arrangement remain clean and uncluttered, while long open deck sections along the main deck allow clear circulation around the yacht. The upper deck overhangs create additional shade for exterior seating areas and strengthen the layered appearance of the profile.

Accommodation

Octopus offers accommodation for up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising an owners cabin located on the main deck. She is also capable of carrying up to 7 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C18) 715hp engines, motor yacht Octopus is capable of reaching a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 11 knots. With her 45,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,500 nautical miles at an economic speed of 9 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
