New Riviera Belize 55 Sedan and Daybridge Boats Revealed With Downeaster Styling

Riviera has revealed the new Belize 55 Sedan and Daybridge ahead of their world premiere at the Newport International Boat Show in September, introducing a refined update to one of the yard’s most recognizable motor yacht lines.

Positioned within the Riviera Belize range, the new 55 continues the series’ focus on Downeaster-inspired styling, semi-custom flexibility, and owner-focused cruising layouts, while introducing revised entertaining spaces, updated onboard technology, and Volvo Penta IPS propulsion.

Classic Belize Styling Returns in a New Size

The Belize collection has long centered around low-profile proportions, curved sheer lines, and practical offshore capability rather than the taller superstructures often seen in contemporary production yachts. The new Belize 55 retains that approach, pairing a traditional silhouette with modern systems and materials.

Riviera describes the model as a contemporary interpretation of classic motor yacht styling, drawing influence from Maine’s Downeaster boats while retaining the Australian yard’s emphasis on practicality and offshore usability.

With the Belize 55 Sedan and Daybridge, owners can create their ultimate classic motor yacht, with a level of customisation and bespoke detail. With only a limited number of Belize yachts built each year, ownership is defined by exclusivity.

- Rodney Longhurst, Owner of Riviera Australia

The Belize range originally launched with the Riviera Belize 54 Sedan in 2011 and the Riviera Belize 54 Daybridge variant in 2012, with both models establishing the collection’s visual identity and owner-operated cruising focus. Riviera owner Rodney Longhurst said Belize owners are typically experienced cruisers seeking greater individuality and fewer compromises in their next yacht.

Waterside Living Remains a Defining Feature

A major part of the Belize 55’s update centers on entertaining and waterside access. The motor yacht features a full-beam hydraulic swim platform that lowers into the water to create a beach-style platform at anchor, alongside a dedicated watersports garage for tender and equipment storage. An integrated transom barbecue and open aft deck layout continue the indoor-outdoor arrangement seen across earlier Belize models.

The aft cockpit flows directly into the saloon through wide opening glazing, effectively extending the entertaining area across a single level. On the Sedan version, that uninterrupted deck arrangement remains one of the defining aspects of the layout, echoing the “single flowing level” concept that helped define the Belize 54 Sedan.

The Daybridge variant adds a second social deck above, fitted with lounge seating, a wet bar, and elevated helm station. Previous Belize Daybridge models used this upper deck as a more casual open-air entertaining space while keeping the protected lower saloon intact for longer cruising passages.

Interior Focus Shifts Toward Long-Stay Cruising

Below deck, the Belize 55 features a three-stateroom arrangement with two bathrooms, including a full-beam owner’s suite positioned amidships. The emphasis throughout the interior appears centered on livability rather than high-density accommodation. Riviera says the boat has been designed for both extended cruising and shorter weekend use, with storage volume, natural light, and privacy forming key parts of the layout brief.

Earlier Belize models became known for details more commonly associated with larger semi-custom yachts, including full-beam master cabins, handcrafted timber joinery, leather upholstery, and muted satin finishes rather than heavily glossed interiors. The new 55 continues that direction with a similarly restrained material palette and owner personalization options.

The saloon and galley remain closely integrated, with an open-plan arrangement intended to keep the main deck social and connected while underway.

Hull Design Prioritizes Offshore Comfort

At the center of the Belize 55 is a hull developed specifically around Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, continuing a design philosophy already established in earlier Belize models. The previous Belize 54 was engineered and tank-tested around IPS pod drives, with a fine-entry hull, keel-assisted tracking, and pronounced chines developed to improve efficiency and ride comfort offshore.

The new 55 follows a similar direction. Riviera says the yacht features a fine bow entry, keel-assisted tracking, and a substantial bow chine intended to improve stability while keeping the ride dry in rougher conditions.

Power comes from twin Volvo Penta D11 IPS 950 engines, with up to three joystick docking stations available for close-quarters maneuvering. Riviera also highlights improved fuel efficiency and simplified handling as core parts of the package.

A Larger Alternative: A Closer Look at Riviera’s Belize 66

According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Riviera’s larger Belize 66 remains the flagship of the collection. For buyers looking beyond the new Belize 55, it provides a useful reference point for how the series evolves at a greater scale.

Introduced as a larger interpretation of the original Belize concept, the 66 carries the same low-profile styling, IPS-driven hull design, and Riviera Belize 66 Sedan or Riviera Belize 66 Daybridge configuration choices seen on the smaller models. At 69ft overall, the yacht introduces a broader semi-custom approach, with owners able to configure three or four-cabin layouts, crew quarters, utility spaces, and multiple master suite arrangements.

The Belize 66 also places greater emphasis on long-range liveability, with larger entertaining decks, expanded galley and saloon areas, and more extensive personalization options throughout the interior. Riviera developed the model in consultation with existing Belize owners, many of whom were looking for increased space and cruising capability while retaining the styling and usability that defined the earlier yachts.
