Princess Yachts Unveils New X90 Ahead of 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival Debut

Princess Yachts has announced the new Princess X90, set for her first public appearance in 2026.

Awaiting her world debut, the Princess X90 expands the Princess X Class range. The new design carries forward the philosophy of the ‘super flybridge’ concept while introducing new features and expanded living arrangements across its decks.

The series has become a central part of Princess' portfolio, defined by large-volume layouts and the integration of enclosed skylounges as a signature element. With the X90, the Plymouth-based yard has continued this line of development, focusing on enhancing the connection between interior and exterior spaces.

Design and Outdoor Living

Central to the shipyard's open-plan philsophy is the curved patio door design, a first for Princess, which extends the sense of openness between the aft dining area and the cockpit on board the yacht.

The use of drop-down balconies within the cockpit bulwarks to port and starboard extends the aft deck outward to provide uninterrupted 180-degree views over the water, supported by a glass transom balustrade. Together, these structural changes illustrate how the motor yacht pushes the X Class concept into new territory while maintaining continuity with its siblings.

Interior and Owner's Suite

The interiors of the superyacht are fashioned around glass, light, and direct circulation. The main deck saloon is surrounded by windows, giving the impression of openness even when closed off by the distinctive curved doors. Owners may choose between an open galley with a breakfast bar or a fully enclosed galley, each designed to preserve guest privacy.

The main deck is arranged on a single level from the cockpit through to the owner’s suite, a feature first seen on the X95. This continuity of flooring creates a natural sense of flow while eliminating thresholds or steps that might break the line of sight.

The owner’s stateroom itself is located forward with panoramic glazing and, optionally, a gullwing door that provides direct entry to a private foredeck terrace. By recessing deck gear, the terrace becomes a clean, liveable space for private use.

Below deck, the standard layout provides three en-suite cabins, with the option to increase to five guest cabins if desired.

Flybridge and Performance

The flybridge remains a focal point of the X Class design. On the X90, the enclosed skylounge extends the yacht’s social spaces, with sofas positioned on either side and an option for an 85-inch screen. Sliding doors lead to the wheelhouse, where the yacht can reach speeds of up to 28 knots, depending on engine configuration.

Externally, the aft flybridge offers a choice of layouts, ranging from a spa bath to a bar arrangement or clear space for freestanding furniture. The deck can also be specified with a crane for tender storage, highlighting the model’s adaptable planning. Forward on this level, twin seating areas with adjustable backrests can be converted into sunbeds, balancing functionality with relaxation.

Hull and Engineering

The Princess X90 joins as a sister to the successful X80 and the X95 Vista. Introduced as ‘super flybridge’ yachts, these models represent a deliberate move toward higher-volume yachts that sit between Princess’s traditional flybridge offerings and larger tri-deck designs. The X Class has proven to be a successful segment for the yard, bridging the expectations of clients moving up from smaller models with the appeal of larger yacht features, such as skylounges, terraces, and multiple layout options.

Beneath the design, the Princess X90 introduces a Hybrid Progressive-Planing (H.P.P.) hull form. Developed to balance stability, efficiency, and performance, it features a pronounced aft skeg for directional control, progressive chine geometry for smooth transitions between cruising and planing speeds, and a deep-V bow with double chines to reduce resistance and manage spray.

Market Context

With its position in the middle of the range, the X90 offers a balance of scale and practicality. The addition of curved patio doors, drop-down bulwarks, and optional foredeck access for the owner’s suite set it apart as a development of the line, not just a size variation. Its unveiling at both the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026 and the Genoa International Boat Show the same year aligns with Princess’s strategy of using key international shows to introduce milestone models.

At the Cannes 2025 press conference, Princess confirmed that five X90 models have already been sold, with the first scheduled to debut at Cannes and Genoa in 2026. The yard also indicated that its current order book stands at an estimated $1 billion.
