On Deck
Right at the back of the X90 Fast is a working stern. There is a full-width garage that will take a Williams SportJet 345, and there is also space for a tender up to about 4m (13.1ft). The bathing platform is a lowering unit and is partially deployed here, so you can already see the steps starting to form as it drops. When fully lowered it creates a stepped route straight into the water. When raised it sits flush with the aft deck, and there is also a secondary access underneath that still lets you get into the sea when the platform is folded away.
Step forward and you land in what really feels like a beach club rather than a conventional aft deck. There is generous sunbathing right at water level and a convivial seating area that keeps you very close to the sea. It is technically an aft deck, but it does not feel formal or elevated. It feels relaxed and grounded, which suits this boat very well.
A small step up leads to the exterior dining area. This sits directly outside the galley and is helped massively by the drop-down window, which turns the galley into a serving space or bar. Storage runs along the side, backed up by a fridge and ice maker, so this works as a complete entertaining zone without needing to head inside.
Side decks are wide and deeply bulwarked, rising to around shoulder height as you walk forward. They feel secure and well protected, particularly when moving around at sea. Fender protection is built into the topsides and side doors lead straight into the wheelhouse on both sides. Each side deck also has a wing station with joystick and thruster controls, allowing you to bring the boat alongside from outside, which is always welcome on a yacht of this size.
Up on the bow there is another nicely thought-out working area. A large boatswain’s locker sits forward with steps down inside and space for ropes, fenders and deck gear. You can see the stainless steel anchor chain running below, and the anchoring equipment is neatly concealed under deck panels. The deck itself stays clean thanks to pop-up cleats, powered winches that rise when activated, and stainless fairleads running aft. It is a very slick, uncluttered foredeck.
The skydeck has no helm station, as this is a place to relax rather than drive, but there is a bar, loose seating, a teppanyaki-style cooking surface, ice maker and fridge. Frameless glass surrounds the deck and a bimini on carbon poles provides shade.
Interior Accommodation
Inside, the main saloon has finishes that are warm without being heavy, helped by careful colour choices and plenty of natural light. Parquet flooring runs throughout, and the joinery leans into curves rather than straight lines, which softens the space nicely. Stone surfaces sit on top of the cabinetry and the detailing feels consistent wherever you look.
The seating arrangement works as a proper living space rather than a showpiece. Storage is everywhere, including beneath the TV where a wine cooler is neatly tucked away.
Moving forward brings you into the wheelhouse. This is very much a working area, but it still carries the same flowing design language as the saloon. The helm features joystick control, bow thruster, and a full bank of Garmin displays that handle navigation, engine data and onboard systems. Twin side doors open straight onto the decks, which makes docking and deck access straightforward.
The galley sits aft on the main deck and connects directly to the exterior dining area via the drop-down window. It is fully equipped with multiple freezers, a large oven, extensive storage and a wine cooler. The cabinetry grain matches throughout, which is a nice detail, and the layout supports both crew service and owner use without feeling tucked away.
On the lower deck there is a proper lobby area rather than a tight corridor. It is notably wide, finished with the same parquet flooring and curved wood detailing. A set of day heads is positioned here, well placed for guests without needing to head back to a cabin.
Owner's Cabin
The owner’s cabin sits amidships on the lower deck and runs full beam. The X90 Fast itself measures just over 7m (22.9ft) in beam, and you really feel that here as the space feels vast.
There is a central bed, AV equipment and a dedicated dressing area tucked neatly into one corner. This dressing nook is surrounded by wardrobes and shelving, and there is additional storage built into the passageway leading into the cabin, with configurable shelving that can be adapted to suit how the owner wants to use it.
Lighting is soft and well placed, and the overall feel is quiet and private. The ensuite spans the full width aft and includes a large rainfall shower, a separate toilet behind an opaque door, and a bidet. Everything is clearly laid out and easy to live with.
Guest Accommodation
The lower deck guest accommodation includes two guest cabins plus a full-beam VIP forward.
The two guest cabins sit port and starboard. This particular yacht has been configured to the owner’s preference, replacing the usual twin arrangement in one cabin with a double berth. Both cabins include wardrobes, additional storage and ensuite bathrooms.
The ensuites are hidden behind mirrored doors, which keeps the cabins visually clean but can momentarily confuse until you realise what you are looking at. Each bathroom includes a separate shower, basin and toilet, all neatly finished.
Forward, the VIP cabin is a very generous space. It includes a central bed, dressing table, AV equipment and multiple wardrobes. There is also an escape hatch in the ceiling. The ensuite is larger again, with a separate shower, toilet and basin concealed behind mirrored doors. The curved woodwork wraps around the space and gives it a very cohesive feel.
Crew Accommodation
Crew access for four is via the galley. Below deck is a dedicated crew mess with seating, a TV and laundry facilities.
There are two identical crew cabins, one on each side. Each has twin berths, wardrobes and shelving, plus a private ensuite. The bathrooms include a toilet, basin and a separate enclosed shower with sliding doors. This is proper liveaboard crew accommodation rather than something designed purely for deliveries.
Performance & Engine Room
The engine room houses three Volvo Penta IPS 1350 units, each producing 1,000hp. Access is slightly restricted here due to show conditions, but the installation includes a built-in workbench and clear service routes.
Performance is strong for a yacht of this size. Top speed is around 28 knots, with a fast cruise of about 22 knots. Drop the speed to around 12 knots and the range stretches close to 1,000 nautical miles, showing that this hull works well at displacement speeds as well as higher ones.
Supporting systems include twin generators, a watermaker and extensive redundancy throughout. Fuel transfer pumps, water heaters and other critical systems are backed up. There is also direct access from the engine room to the deck for emergency escape.
One of the more interesting systems onboard is the AI-managed power setup. When connected to shore power, the system monitors load and automatically starts a generator if demand approaches the supply limit. Rather than a blackout, everything simply carries on working. Generator preference can be selected, but the switching is automatic and seamless from an onboard point of view.
Ownership Considerations
The Extra X90 Fast price is at around €7.6 million for a new build. That places it firmly in the upper end of the 26 to 27 metre performance yacht bracket. Look for an Extra X90 Fast for sale and one thing becomes clear quite quickly. There are not many on the market as Extra Yachts does not build these in large numbers and owners tend to spec them carefully. When examples do appear on the brokerage market, asking prices usually remain close to original levels, particularly for well specced boats with sensible hours. That scarcity helps underpin confidence in long term ownership.
Day to day Extra X90 Fast ownership feels closer to a modern performance yacht than a traditional flybridge cruiser. The triple Volvo Penta IPS 1350 installation brings very real advantages at low speed. Close quarters handling is calm and precise, joystick control reduces stress, and the boat is easy to place alongside. That said, pod drives simplify handling rather than maintenance. Regular haulouts, pod inspections, alignment checks and scheduled Volvo servicing are part of the ownership rhythm. The upside here is that access is logical and systems are laid out with clarity rather than being buried for aesthetics.
When owners ask about Extra X90 Fast running costs, the honest answer is that this is not a low overhead yacht, but it is a predictable one. Insurance costs sit toward the higher end for the length due to performance profile and replacement values. Berthing costs follow the same logic, particularly in prime Mediterranean marinas where beam and length are priced aggressively. Crew costs are another consideration. The yacht has proper accommodation for four crew, and while some owners will operate with fewer, the layout strongly supports professional crew if the boat is to be kept ready and properly maintained.
One area where ownership becomes easier rather than harder is systems management. Power handling is largely automated. The yacht monitors shore power draw and will bring a generator online before overload becomes an issue. From the owner’s perspective everything simply continues to work. Lighting, blinds, AV and climate systems are controlled via iPads, and the execution feels robust rather than gimmicky. That reduces crew workload and limits the small operational annoyances that often creep into complex yachts over time.
In any Extra X90 Fast vs competitors discussion, two yachts tend to surface quickly. The Sunseeker 90 Ocean and the Sanlorenzo SP92. The Sunseeker places more emphasis on volume and beach club living, with a softer performance focus. The Sanlorenzo leans into design pedigree and interior polish, typically prioritising cruising comfort over outright pace.
In Summary
The Extra Yachts X90 Fast is best described exactly as it presents itself. It is a high-performance 90-foot yacht that is also a genuinely nice place to spend time. Exterior spaces feel close to the water and properly social, the interior is calm and thoughtfully finished, and the accommodation layout supports real use rather than brochure posing.
With triple IPS power, a wide beam, long-range capability and a strong focus on automation and redundancy, it delivers speed when you want it and reassurance when you do not.
