Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 7.8m beam and a 2.4m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 233 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Launched in May 2024 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.

Exterior Design

Andromeda, the first Bering 88, strikes a powerful figure on the water, combining serious explorer capability with the comfort of a superyacht. Her rugged exterior hints at her true nature - a global cruiser, built to commercial charter class standards and fully RINA classified, ready to operate across a wide range of jurisdictions.

Her 8.1-metre (26.6ft) beam is felt throughout every deck space, creating the sensation of being aboard a far larger vessel. A walk around the decks quickly reveals the sheer scale on offer. The aft boat deck provides ample room for a substantial tender up to 6.5 metres (21.3ft) and space left over for jet skis or a second smaller tender. A Steelhead Marine crane rated to 2,500 pounds (1.1 tonnes) handles all launch and recovery operations with ease.

Above, the flybridge serves as a true open-air retreat. Generous lounging areas, sun pads, and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with grill, hob, dishwasher, and ice maker make it ideal for entertaining or relaxing at anchor. The structure is protected by a bimini, offering flexibility depending on conditions.

At the stern, the cockpit is vast and highly functional. With heavy-duty capstans and bollards, and a broad swim platform fitted with guard rails, the yacht handles docking and water access with ease. Even at full speed, the swim platform remains dry - a reflection of her excellent hull form and careful weight distribution.

A particularly special feature is the panoramic sauna built into the superstructure - a first for this line - offering sweeping views while providing a luxurious wellness space. Flexibility continues at the waterline with the option to configure the lazarette as a beach club. With an opening aft gate, the space can serve as storage for diving and fishing gear, or as a relaxed waterside lounge area.

Every exterior detail of Andromeda is built to commercial specification. Rigid stainless-steel fuel lines, minimal flexible connections, class-approved exhaust systems, and overbuilt hydraulics are standard throughout. Her classification drives strict fire safety, stability, and insubmersibility standards normally only found in much larger yachts.

Step aboard Andromeda and experience an explorer built for real autonomy and real adventure.

Interior Design

Despite her under-24-metre (78.7ft) classification, Andromeda feels anything but small. Her displacement of 225 metric tons (248 tons) and a gross tonnage of 240 (265 tons) set her apart, mean her interior spans over 177 square metres (1,905.2 square feet) - offering the sort of volume typically associated with yachts well over 30 metres (100ft).

Inside, every inch has been considered. Noise and vibration control measures were a major focus, with flexible shaft couplings, cardan connections between the engines and thrust bearings, and a sophisticated sound insulation system developed specifically for the Bering fleet. The result is a near-silent environment whether underway or at anchor.

The main deck hosts a spacious salon with large windows that maximise light and views. A fully equipped galley sits nearby, offering direct service to both interior and exterior dining areas. Forward, the main deck master stateroom brings true superyacht credentials, complete with a private ensuite and generous proportions.

The foyer area includes a day head and an elegant staircase connecting the decks. Practicality is also built in: additional storage, crew circulation routes, and easy access to service areas have all been thoughtfully integrated.

The pilothouse is laid out for both professional operation and guest enjoyment. Four large Furuno screens, extensive system monitoring panels, twin autopilot controls, joystick steering, and a full suite of navigation and communication equipment are arranged within easy reach of the captain’s chair. Backups are incorporated at every level, from bilge and fire pumps to steering and power management.

Above, the upper salon adds further flexibility. It can serve as an informal lounge space or convert into an additional guest cabin thanks to a pull-out sofa bed and a full head - a particularly useful feature for long passages or charter use.

The engine room is a true ship-grade installation, with excellent headroom, clear labelling, stainless steel piping, twin generators, Alfa Laval fuel polishing, and three independent chiller units for the air conditioning system. The hydraulic systems support zero-speed stabilisation via four fins, hydraulic windlasses, and powerful 53-horsepower bow and stern thrusters.

Accommodation

Andromeda’s accommodation layout is designed for both private use and charter operations, offering comfort, privacy, and flexibility for up to 10 guests and 5 crew.

The main deck master stateroom delivers genuine superyacht-style living, with its commanding forward position providing impressive views and natural light. Below, the guest accommodation can be tailored to suit different preferences. Typically, three or four staterooms are found on the lower deck. For owners prioritising extended range or serious expedition cruising, one guest cabin can be reconfigured into a large pantry and laundry area, complete with walk-in fridge and freezer facilities, creating a seamless workflow between storage and galley.

The captain’s cabin sits conveniently adjacent to the pilothouse, ensuring a ready presence on the bridge at all times during passages. The crew quarters occupy over 43 square metres (462.8 square feet) and are thoughtfully arranged for operational efficiency and crew comfort.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Cummins (QSM-11) 350hp engines, motor yacht Andromeda is capable of reaching a top speed of 11 knots, and comfortably cruises at 8 knots. With her 39,755 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at 8 knots.

Inside Andromeda, every voyage feels effortless, with a design that anticipates every need.
