Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and superstructure she features a 7.57m beam and a 2.81m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 289 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in late 1980. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. She was delivered to her owners in November 1981.

Exterior Design

Arriva is a 39.3m (128.9ft) steel displacement yacht built by Astilleros Armón in 1981, with exterior design by Paolo Scanu and naval architecture by Don Francisco Diaz Madarro. Formerly named Meserret, she belongs to a style of yacht that has become increasingly rare - long-range, traditionally proportioned and shaped around comfort at sea rather than maximised interior volume.

The profile is defined by her canoe stern, sweeping sheerline and rounded superstructure edges, all of which give the yacht a softer appearance than the sharper terrace-style sterns common on modern builds. The dark hull and cream superstructure reinforce that classic gentleman’s yacht character, while varnished timber trim adds warmth against the painted surfaces.

A major rebuild between 2001 and 2002 reshaped much of the yacht externally and internally, followed by another substantial refit in 2020 that included the addition of zero-speed stabilisers. The updates modernised systems and guest comfort without stripping away the yacht’s original identity.

Outdoor spaces are arranged in a relaxed, traditional style. The aft deck curves around the canoe stern with built-in seating following the shape of the hull, which gives the space a more enclosed and sociable feel than a squared-off beach club arrangement. Above, the upper aft deck has a shaded dining and lounge area beneath a large awning, while loose seating forward creates a quieter observation spot during cruising.

The sundeck stays relatively low-profile but still incorporates a Jacuzzi surrounded by sun pads and open sea views. Tender storage is integrated neatly into the upper structure so the decks retain clean lines rather than feeling crowded with equipment.

Large oval windows along the hull and superstructure bring more natural light inside than many yachts from the same era, helping connect the interior spaces with the sea outside.

Interior Design

Arriva’s interior stays closely tied to her original character, balancing classic yacht detailing with the benefits of later rebuilds and refits. Rich teak panelling runs throughout the guest spaces, paired with pale fabrics, soft carpets and lighter furnishings that stop the interior from feeling overly heavy or formal.

The rebuild introduced updated systems and more contemporary amenities, though the atmosphere still feels unmistakably traditional. Wide windows across the main and upper decks pull natural light deep into the salons, softening the darker timber finishes and giving the yacht a more open feel than many classic designs.

The main salon is arranged as a comfortable social space rather than a highly formal reception room, with deep sofas and occasional chairs grouped naturally around the centre of the room. The upper deck includes a second salon connected directly to the shaded aft dining area, creating an easy flow between indoor and outdoor living.

Accommodation

Arriva accommodates up to 12 guests across six en suite cabins.

The layout includes an owner’s suite and one VIP cabin on the main deck, while the lower deck contains a second VIP cabin and three twin cabins. The arrangement suits mixed charter groups well, particularly families or multi-generational groups that benefit from the flexibility of the twin cabins.

The guest accommodation follows the same classic styling seen throughout the yacht, with teak joinery, pale fabrics and a softer colour palette that keeps the cabins feeling bright and comfortable.

Crew accommodation supports up to seven crew members, allowing the yacht to operate comfortably for both private use and charter service.
