Design & Construction

Designed around a fast displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8m beam and a 2.15m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 345 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in mid 2023. This was the seventh yacht built on the Moonen 122 Martinique design. Launched in September 2025 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.

Exterior Design

Ad Astra is a 37.4m (122.8ft) Moonen 122 Martinique, built in high-tensile steel with an aluminium superstructure, and her profile has the clean, composed look that runs through this Dutch series. René van der Velden drew the exterior with long horizontal lines, a near-continuous band of dark glazing across the main and bridge decks, and a low, balanced superstructure that keeps the yacht looking elegant without losing its steel-hulled substance. The white hull is finished with a slim orange waterline accent, a custom touch from the owner that gives the yacht a little extra definition close to the sea.

The deck plan is built around outdoor living, so the main deck aft forms a broad terrace directly connected to the saloon through sliding glass doors with no sill to step over. Up on the bridge deck, there is another shaded open-air area for lounging or dining, as well as a Portuguese bridge nook forward of the wheelhouse that gives guests a sheltered place to sit with uninterrupted views ahead.

The sundeck is one of the key exterior spaces, and it stretches across 65m2 (700ft2). It combines a sheltered dining area, a bar, sunbeds, and a custom Jacuzzi, while the layout can support long afternoons outside without feeling overfilled. At the stern, the 20m2 (215ft2) swim platform extends the yacht’s connection to the water, and the integrated Z-lift swim stairs fold neatly into the transom so boarding, swimming, and watersports all feel easy and direct.

Ad Astra also carries practical cruising features in a clean way, with a portside tender garage for a 5.98m (19ft) tender, foredeck stowage for two Jet Skis, and broad side decks that keep movement around the yacht simple. The result is a yacht that feels refined and very usable, with every major exterior area tied closely to the sea.

From onyx countertops to sculptural furnishings, Ad Astra is styled for luxury.

Interior Design

Inside, Ad Astra has a custom interior by Hollander Yacht Design, and the mood is calm, light, and quietly polished. The design works from a soft coastal palette, using lightly grained tay wood, white Jacquard wall panels, and sculptural loose furniture to create what Moonen described as a barefoot luxury feel. It is contemporary, but it is not cold, and the materials are layered carefully so the rooms feel relaxed as well as finished.

Dark walnut accents, polished metal strips, and onyx tops add contrast through the shared spaces, while generous ceiling heights help the interior feel open for a yacht of this size. On the main and bridge decks, the panoramic glazing is a major part of the experience, because natural light runs deep into the rooms and keeps the views present almost all the time.

The main saloon and dining area are arranged as one long, flowing social space, and the almost continuous window line gives them a real sense of width. Furnishings are low, soft-edged, and deliberately sculptural, so the interior keeps a residential character instead of slipping into something too formal. Lighting is used with restraint too, which helps the stone, timber, and fabrics do most of the work.

Bathrooms bring in a little more contrast. Crema marble, mother-of-pearl-effect mosaics, and black-and-gold marble basins create brighter, more decorative rooms without breaking the overall tone of the yacht. Across the whole interior, the detailing stays crisp and consistent, so Ad Astra feels very much like a modern Dutch build with a custom finish rather than a standard series interior.

Accommodation

Ad Astra accommodates up to 12 guests in five cabins, with a layout that gives the owner the best position on board and keeps the guest spaces generous below.

The owner’s suite sits forward on the main deck and spans 37m2 (398ft2). It benefits from forward-facing windows with 180-degree views, so it has the kind of outlook usually reserved for much larger yachts. The suite also includes a separate dressing area and en suite bathroom, and the light palette used throughout the yacht helps this cabin feel especially open.

On the lower deck, there are two VIP staterooms, each with an en suite bathroom and a footprint of 15m2 (161ft2), so they have proper presence instead of feeling like secondary cabins. Forward of these sit two guest twins, also en suite, with the option of Pullman berths as part of the Martinique platform’s 12-guest capability.

Crew accommodation is arranged for seven, including the captain, across three crew cabins plus the captain’s cabin, with a crew mess, laundry, and additional cool and dry stores positioned to support longer cruising.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C-32) 1,925hp engines, motor yacht Ad Astra is capable of reaching a top speed of 17 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots. With her 35,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,000 nautical miles at an economic speed of 10 knots.
