WATCH: First Sunreef Ultima 88 Catamaran Wasabi Revealed in New Walkthrough and Images

Sunreef Yachts has released a full walkthrough and expanded image set of the 27m catamaran Wasabi, giving the clearest look yet at how the new model works in practice.

Previously introduced through concept visuals and early interior photography, the latest material of the Sunreef Ultima 88 catamaran shifts the conversation toward layout execution, circulation, and onboard experience. The walkthrough places particular focus on the Ocean Lounge aft, the layered deck arrangement, and the way Sunreef has packaged catamaran volume inside a notably lower profile than its established power range.

Built at Sunreef’s Ras Al Khaimah facility, the Ultima 88 sits near the top of the builder’s growing Ultima lineup and has already drawn attention through high-profile owners, including professional tennis player Carlos Alcaraz.

The Ocean Lounge Takes Center Stage

The biggest shift brought by the walkthrough is scale perception, as the proportions feel even more deliberate. The yacht carries a lower roofline than many volume-led multihulls, while the glazing, long overhangs, and stretched profile create something closer to a fast GT yacht than a traditional cruising cat.

Rather than treating the stern as a simple cockpit, Sunreef has built the entire rear section around water access. Fold-down bulwarks widen the usable footprint, while the hydraulic swim platform links directly with the garage space to create what Sunreef calls the Ocean Lounge. Above it, sunpads are layered across different levels, creating several social zones on board the catamaran without crowding the deck.

The new images also show how open this area becomes once fully deployed. The effect is less beach club in the superyacht sense and more waterside living space built for active use - tenders, water toys, swimming, and extended time at anchor.

A More Residential Direction Inside

Rather than dividing the interior into formal rooms, Sunreef has created one broad social environment with lounge seating, dining, and circulation flowing across a single plane. The layout relies heavily on sightlines and light rather than partitions.

Large side glazing runs close to the waterline and pulls daylight deep into the space. Furniture remains low throughout, preserving views across the saloon and keeping the room visually open.

Pale woods, stone surfaces, soft neutral fabrics, black detailing, and integrated lighting create an atmosphere that feels closer to contemporary residential design than classic yacht styling. The earlier image release hinted at this approach, but the walkthrough gives better context around scale and proportion.

Inside the Full-Beam Owner Arrangement

The owner’s suite makes full use of the multihull platform, creating a noticeably broader footprint than most monohulls in this size range. Access comes through a dedicated staircase finished with exposed carbon detailing before opening into a space shaped around width rather than length.

Large hull windows sit low to the water and bring significant daylight into the cabin, while pale finishes keep the space bright. The bathroom follows the same approach, using an open layout with standing shower arrangements and optional bathtub configurations depending on owner specification.

Accommodation overall supports up to ten guests across five cabins, with additional crew spaces aft for up to five personnel. Guest areas continue the same light palette seen elsewhere onboard and avoid dramatic styling gestures.

The Technical Side of the Ultima 88

Sunreef developed the motor yacht around the idea of pairing multihull stability and shallow draft capability with stronger performance characteristics and a more athletic appearance. The platform measures 26.8 meters with a 9.1 meter beam and draws just 1.2 meters.

Hull one uses twin Volvo Penta IPS1050 engines, while the range can also be specified with hybrid propulsion and Sunreef’s solar skin technology. Conventional versions are expected to reach up to 26 knots depending on configuration, with quieter electric cruising forming part of the hybrid package. Sunreef has also explored hydrofoil assistance as part of the wider Ultima concept, aimed at improving efficiency and reducing drag.

A Different Chapter for Sunreef’s Catamaran Portfolio

The Ultima 88 arrives during a busy period for the Polish builder. According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Sunreef currently has 33 yachts over 24 meters in build or on order, with activity stretching from Eco models through to the recently announced 65M Sunreef Explorer concept.

The new walkthrough suggests the Ultima line may become one of the yard’s most important directions. What started as a performance-minded concept now looks more developed in real life - not simply because of the styling, but because the layout appears to deliver on the original promise. The yacht still carries the volume and stability expected from a large catamaran, yet the onboard experience feels noticeably closer to contemporary sport yacht living.

With Wasabi now revealed through detailed photography and onboard footage, the Ultima 88 can be viewed beyond its original concept visuals, giving a clearer understanding of the model’s layout and onboard experience.
