Design & Construction
Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 30'2" beam and a 6'3" draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 485 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in early 2016. This was the twelfth yacht built on the Mangusta 165E design. Launched in April 2017 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in May 2017.
Exterior Design
Black Legend carries an unmistakable presence at sea, her dark GRP hull finished in black with sharp red detailing. The superstructure is also moulded in GRP, while the decks are laid in traditional teak. The effect is dramatic but purposeful, giving her lines a strong, distinctive look.
The aft deck is among the largest to be found on a 50m (164ft) yacht, and its layout has been carefully planned for entertaining. Sofas and deep seating create a natural gathering place, leading forward to an al fresco dining area with its own barbecue and bar station close at hand. The space can hold a large party of guests comfortably, whether for cocktails, dinner, or both.
Up top, the flybridge continues that theme with a huge dining table aft, a movable set of seating units that can be rearranged for different occasions, and bars positioned both amidships and forward, the latter forming a neat separation from the wing stations.
The foredeck is another standout space, with a Jacuzzi, forward-facing seating, extensive sunbeds, and wide open space for relaxing in the sun. Shade can be added with awnings when needed. The lower deck connects directly to the sea with a beach club and stern platform, plus a garage that holds tenders, chase boats, and a full spread of watersports equipment. Everything from seabobs to jet skis can be housed here, with space left to tailor the inventory.
Interior Design
Inside, Black Legend reveals a design that is daring, playful, and carefully crafted. The palette is mainly achromatic but comes alive with vivid red highlights and gold detailing. The style has an Asian influence, brought to life with fabrics chosen specifically for this yacht. The result is distinctive and bold, yet also family-oriented and private in intent.
The main salon flows directly from the aft deck, creating a large social zone with easy indoor-outdoor movement. Comfortable seating and a bar continue the emphasis on entertaining, while details in the décor signal the owner’s desire to create something truly personal rather than conventional.
The pilothouse is fitted with triple helm seats set before five multifunction screens. Raked windows and a small guest seating area give the space an efficient, professional feel while keeping it accessible for visitors. Below deck, the galley is a practical workspace, fitted with stainless steel appliances and white cabinetry more like a restaurant kitchen than a domestic one. A separate laundry area and a proper crew mess support day-to-day life on board.
Entertainment is built deeply into the design. A dedicated cinema room is finished with soft furnishings that encourage lounging, while audio-visual systems throughout are well above shipyard standard, including Bang & Olufsen speakers and iPad-based controls. Even small practical touches, such as fridges installed across the yacht, stem directly from the owner’s past experience of Mediterranean cruising, ensuring guests always find a cold drink nearby.
Accommodation
Guest accommodation is arranged for ten across four cabins, all finished in the same bold interior style. The full-beam owner’s suite sits on the lower deck and comes with its own private study and dressing area. Alongside it are three guest cabins, including a forward VIP that is rich in gold trim and fitted with the latest audio-visual systems.
Two further doubles are positioned to port and starboard, each with its own design quirks. One has a walk-in wardrobe, while the other makes space for the master suite entrance. Details such as bespoke artwork and even a miniature surfboard mounted on the ceiling give each cabin a distinct character.
In place of an additional guest stateroom, one lower deck space has been fitted out as a private gym. The layout shows a willingness to adapt traditional cabin arrangements in favour of lifestyle spaces.
Crew accommodation supports a team of nine across five cabins, each with its own bathroom. Alongside the cabins, the crew have a practical mess and well-equipped work areas that allow them to run the yacht efficiently.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by 4 x diesel MTU (16V 2000 M94) 16-cylinder 2,600hp engines running at 2450rpm, motor yacht Black Legend is capable of reaching a top speed of 35 knots, and comfortably cruises at 25 knots. With her 10,567 gallon fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 800 nautical miles at 25 knots. Her planing hull design means she is fast and efficient as she slices through the water.
Amenities
Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort and underwater lights will turn plenty of heads when the sun goes down.
