Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 10.7m beam and a 3.53m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 1,090 GT (Gross Tonnes).
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
Scott Free is a 60m (196.85ft) motor yacht built by Abeking & Rasmussen, with exterior styling by Donald Starkey. The profile is clean and slightly formal, shaped around a raked bow and a long sheerline that keeps the yacht balanced despite her volume.
The hull is finished in a sky blue, which sets up a strong contrast against the white superstructure, while a fine white boot top line sharpens the transition above the black-painted lower hull. This layered colour scheme gives Scott Free a clear visual break between waterline, hull and upper structure, so the yacht reads well from distance without relying on complex detailing.
Deck planning focuses on space and usability. Moving the main staircases internally frees up the exterior decks, particularly on the sky deck where this change allows for larger sunpad areas at the aft corners. The same decision improves the flow across the upper levels, so seating and dining areas feel less interrupted.
The sundeck works as the main leisure deck. It combines an open gym area, barbecue station, flexible dining setup and stepped sunpads leading up to a hot tub forward. The layout allows different uses across the same deck, so guests can move between lounging, dining and exercise without the space feeling divided.
On the bridge deck, shifting the stair position creates room for a 12-seat dining table, with clearer views outboard. Forward, the foredeck is arranged with integrated seating and a raised walkway that runs around the deck gear. This keeps guests clear of operational areas while still giving them access to one of the best viewpoints on board.
At the stern, the main deck includes a semicircular seating arrangement built into the aft rail, which works as a casual gathering spot close to the water. Below, the large tender garage opens directly onto the bathing platform, with a system that allows tenders to be launched and recovered efficiently even in less settled conditions.
Interior Design
The interior of Scott Free was designed by Bannenberg & Rowell, and it leans toward a modern, slightly playful style built around geometry, material contrast and controlled use of colour.
The main saloon sets the tone. Circular motifs appear throughout the space, from the half-moon sofa to the patterned carpet and illuminated round wall features. These shapes break up the otherwise linear architecture and give the room a softer rhythm. A central seating group sits around a low table, while darker chairs add contrast against the lighter base palette.
Forward, the dining area continues the same approach with a custom table set against painted oak and acrylic panels. Materials shift between pale woods, darker finishes, metal detailing and glass, so the room has variety without losing cohesion. A bar is integrated into the layout, making use of space created by the air ducting rather than adding bulk.
The sky lounge repeats some of these design ideas but with more flexibility. The layout can handle larger groups, with fixed sofas and movable tables allowing different seating arrangements. A cocktail bar sits beneath the internal stair, with a glass frontage that adds a bit of visual interest without dominating the space. Lighting is adjustable, including a remote-controlled curtain system that can change the feel of the room quickly.
Across the yacht, materials are used with intent. Diseased maple veneer appears in furniture, adding natural pattern variation, while nickel inlays run through corridors and wall sections to tie the design together. In smaller areas, such as the day heads, details become more experimental, including embedded natural elements behind glass panels.
The central staircase is a key design feature. It is built from timber but finished to resemble polished metal, with a sculptural form that draws attention without becoming overly decorative. Lighting is used carefully throughout the yacht to support the materials rather than overpower them.
Accommodation
Scott Free accommodates up to 12 guests in six cabins, with a crew of up to 16.
The owner’s suite is located forward on the main deck and spans the full beam. The layout includes a private office area with seating, a walk-in wardrobe and dressing space, and a large en suite bathroom. The position forward gives the suite privacy from the main guest circulation areas.
On the lower deck, four guest cabins can be configured as either doubles or twins. This flexibility allows the yacht to adapt to different groups, whether family use or mixed guest arrangements. Each cabin has its own en suite bathroom, and the layout ensures direct access from a central lobby.
An additional guest cabin is located on the bridge deck. This space can also serve as a study, lounge or children’s playroom, depending on how the yacht is used, which adds another layer of versatility to the accommodation plan.
