The 49.99m motor yacht Fauda was delivered to her owners in 2001 by Dutch shipyard Amels. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Terence Disdale, while Amels is responsible for her naval architecture.

Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9m beam and a 3.1m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 610 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Fauda has the long, balanced proportions of an early-2000s Amels, with a high bow, generous sheer and broad aft decks rather than the near-vertical stems and glass-heavy superstructures seen on newer yachts. Terence Disdale designed the exterior, while Amels handled the naval architecture.

The hull carries a lot of volume amidships, but the superstructure steps back as it rises and the long horizontal deck lines keep the yacht from looking top-heavy. Oval and circular windows soften the sides, while the upper deck glazing sits relatively deep beneath the overhang rather than dominating the profile.

Outdoor space is spread over several levels. The main deck aft is sheltered by the deck above, while the upper deck adds another large open terrace directly outside the skylounge. The sundeck is the main leisure area, with sunpads, loose seating, a bar and a hot tub arranged around a large open central section.

The foredeck remains mostly practical, while the stern is more guest-focused, with broad steps leading down towards the swim platform. The overall arrangement is quite traditional, but there is a lot of usable deck spread through the yacht rather than one enormous beach club doing all the work.

Interior Design

Terence Disdale created Fauda's original interior, with Reymond Langton Design carrying out a major interior refit in 2006.

The current interior keeps a warm, classic feel rather than trying to disguise the yacht's age. Light timber, cream upholstery and darker gloss details sit alongside polished surfaces and strong geometric ceiling features.

The main saloon is broad and formal, with lounge seating aft and dining further forward. Large side windows bring in plenty of daylight, while the furniture is arranged loosely enough that the room still feels open despite the amount of cabinetry around it.

The dining area seats up to 12 and sits on the same main deck level, making it easy to move between lounging, dining and the aft terrace without changing decks.

Above, the skylounge provides a second indoor social room with its own access to the upper aft deck. That gives Fauda two proper interior living spaces rather than relying on one very large saloon to handle everything.

Accommodation

Fauda accommodates up to 12 guests in five suites, with separate quarters for 12 crew.

The owner's suite is the largest accommodation area and includes its own private saloon and office, giving the owner somewhere to work or sit away from the main guest spaces. The GA places this suite forward on the main deck, which also keeps it well separated from the machinery spaces aft.

Two VIP doubles and two twin cabins make up the rest of the guest accommodation. The twins are fitted with Pullman berths, which is how Fauda reaches a full complement of 12 without adding a sixth guest cabin.

The guest cabins sit lower in the yacht and are arranged around a central corridor, with each suite retaining its own en suite facilities.

Crew accommodation is substantial, with six cabins for 12. That level of staffing suits a yacht of this range and volume, particularly one designed for longer periods away from port.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Cummins (KTA 38 M2) 1,200hp engines, motor yacht Fauda is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 13 knots. With her 95,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,758 nautical miles at 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.

Amenities

The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. In addition, a swim platform is on hand for guests looking to cool off in the sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Crowning the yacht is a spacious sundeck with an inviting spread of sunpads and deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
