Koru is a 125.82m sail yacht delivered by Dutch shipyard Oceanco in 2023. The yacht's exteriors have been penned by Dykstra Naval Architects, while Mlinaric, Henry & Zervudachi has designed her interiors.

Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 16.8m beam and a 5.02m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 3,493 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in mid 2019. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in August 2022 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in April 2023.

Exterior Design

Koru stands out on the water with her elegant, traditional three-masted schooner profile, a design brought to life by Oceanco. Her hull, finished in a deep midnight blue, features detailed gold paintwork and a bold scarlet bootstripe that runs along the waterline. The canoe stern enhances her classic lines, and at the very bow, a polished wooden feminine figurehead with a necklace and distinctive pendant. The pendant itself carries the Māori meaning of "koru," the idea of new beginnings and continuous growth.

Moving aft, the decks are set out in a cascading layout, each level offering generous space for both relaxation and entertaining. A pool sits at the heart of the aft deck, serving as a gathering point for guests and setting a leisurely tone. Koru’s masts, which rise between 65 and 85 metres, are unmistakable, giving her an impressive silhouette across her total length of 117 metres. There’s a chair affixed to the very end of the bowsprit, providing a sweeping view straight down the yacht’s length and out to sea.

The sundeck is arranged to remain uncluttered, offering plenty of space for sunbathing or enjoying time with friends and family. While Koru herself is the star, her capabilities are supported by a 75-metre Damen-built support yacht Abeona. This companion ship carries everything from a submarine and helicopter (with its own landing pad) to a speed boat, personal watercraft, a luxury car, and extra crew accommodation, making sure there’s no shortage of adventure or convenience wherever the journey leads.

Interior Design

Koru's interior design, crafted by Mlinaric, Henry, and Zervudachi Interior Design, embodies a timeless contemporary style. Natural wood tones form the backdrop, harmonizing with warm neutrals and patterned textiles. Reflecting an aura of exclusivity, the yacht maintains a high level of privacy, resulting in limited public-domain photographs.

Accommodation

Koru offers accommodation for up to 18 guests in 9 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 40 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 2000 M72) 12-cylinder 1,468hp engines, motor yacht Koru is capable of reaching a top speed of 17 knots, and comfortably cruises at 15 knots.
